High-Performance, Counterbalanced Putters Provide Maximum Stability Through the Stroke

FAIRHAVEN, Mass. (May 6, 2014) – Two of Master Craftsman Scotty Cameron’s most-popular, tour-proven models and shapes – Select Newport 2 and GoLo 7 – are now available with Dual Balance technology for golfers that want to stabilize their putting stroke.

Scotty Cameron Dual Balance putters are counterbalanced designs, developed through extensive research and testing in the Putter Studio and on the PGA Tour, that provide unmatched stability for golfers that struggle to make a consistent stroke with a conventional length putter.

Cameron and his team, through two decades of high-speed video research with tour players, have found that the best putters in the world keep the butt end of the putter pointed to the same 1- to 2-inch circle in their midsection throughout the stroke. Dual Balance putters, with a 50-gram heavier head weight (400 grams total) and a 50-gram counterweight in the butt of the putter shaft, are specifically designed to help golfers replicate that stroke, without anchoring the club to the body.

“The purpose of anchoring a putter is to stop the butt end of the club from moving. Now that anchoring will be against the rules, we’ve determined the best way to help golfers regain that stability and control is through Dual Balance, by adding 50 grams to the shaft and balancing that with 50 grams in the head,” Cameron said. “It eliminates that tendency for many players to flip, push or lead the putter with their hands.

“Instead of stopping the butt end, we’re able to slow everything down. The counterweight in the shaft helps keep the butt stable and pointed at your belly. The additional head weight makes the putter slower and more lethargic without it feeling too heavy. If you only add shaft weight, you actually end up robbing head weight, which makes the head quicker. So you need to balance that out. We have found through our experiments that 50 grams in the shaft and head is ideal for weight, feel and performance. But you have to be careful to maintain the proper shaft flex. It took a lot of testing to make sure we got everything just right with these new models.”

The proper length of a Dual Balance putter is three inches longer than a golfer’s conventional putter length. (Accordingly, the standard length of a Dual Balance putter is 38 inches, three inches longer than the standard length of a conventional 35-inch Scotty Cameron putter.) The additional three inches provides stability while keeping the putter unanchored.

The larger diameter, 15-inch long Dual Balance Flat Front Winn grip is designed so golfers can grip down to place the shaft weight above the hands for a smoother, more stable stroke. The grip has a colored section at the top that indicates proper hand placement (at 35 inches for standard models), keeping the 50-gram counterweight above the hands for maximum effect.

The combination of the heavier head, shaft weight and larger grip stabilize the stroke by reducing the common faults of flipping, pushing or dragging with the hands.

SHAPE CHOICES: The Dual Balance lineup now includes a shape from each of Cameron’s three tour-validated putter families: Select, GoLo and Futura X.

“Putting is such a personal experience. That’s why we have three different putter families, with putters that are doing and saying different things,” Cameron said. “The shape of the putter may be something you like to look at, or it could be more about alignment. Either way, it’s all about finding what helps you and gives you confidence. That’s why it was important for us to bring Dual Balance technology to each of our families.”

Select Newport 2, Cameron’s most popular model both on tour and with players around the world, is a modern blade with crisp back angles and a single black sight line for refined precision. The Newport 2 Dual Balance head is slightly larger than the conventional model to accommodate for the additional 50 grams.

GoLo 7 is an elegant yet modern, easy-to-align mallet, with a single black sight line that helps square the face. The putter has a rounded profile and racy soleplate design with a curved back that flows into the ground. GoLo 7 Dual Balance stores its extra 50 grams under the soleplate. The conventional GoLo 7 model is hollow under the soleplate.

Select Newport 2 and GoLo 7 Dual Balance putters use a deep-milled face to deliver tour-proven feel and soft sound. Both models feature a soft Silver Mist finish with race-car inspired, framed and double-milled cherry dot graphics in the back and cherry dot graphics in the sole to help create a modern but timeless appearance.

Futura X, Cameron’s original Dual Balance design, is a high-MOI mallet with advanced perimeter stability weighting and T-shaped sight lines. Futura X Dual Balance has a steel center section, increasing the weight by 50 grams, as opposed to the aluminum center section of the conventional Futura X. The putter has a Frozen Titanium finish that helps reduce glare, two black sight lines and red cherry dot weights in the sole and balance bar. The mid-milled face texture draws a crisp sound from the aluminum face and body.

PRICE AND AVAILABILITY: Select Newport 2 and GoLo 7 Dual Balance putters have an MSRP of $399 and are available beginning May 30, 2014, in golf shops worldwide.

FAIRHAVEN, Mass. (April 29, 2014) – New Titleist Vokey TVD wedges, designed by Master Craftsman Bob Vokey, provide golfers with the performance and versatility for improved shotmaking through new Spin Milled TX3 grooves and the tour’s most popular shapes and grinds.

Vokey TVD wedges are the result of Vokey’s continuous collaboration with the best players in the world. Since 2004, Vokey Design wedges have been the #1 wedge on the PGA Tour and the most played wedge at every level of competitive golf.

TVD, meaning “Tour Van Design,” originated from Vokey’s work on-site at Tour events, at his grinding wheel inside the Titleist Tour Van shaping and grinding wedges based on players’ needs. The TVD shape is lower in the par (or heel) area and more rounded in the toe for a classic look.

The new Vokey TVD-M and TVD-K models, two of Vokey’s most-requested grinds on the PGA Tour, are available beginning May 7 on Vokey.com and through authorized Titleist accounts as part of the WedgeWorks Exclusives lineup. Each model is offered in two finishes (California Chrome and Black Ion) and fully-customizable – from length, lie, loft and weight porting, to toe engraving, personalized stamping, custom grips, shafts, shaftbands and ferrules.

All TVD wedges now feature the new, deeper Spin Milled TX3 grooves, delivering more spin for precision trajectory and distance control and improved greenside performance. TX3 scorelines, a progressive design with seven percent larger groove volume, produce additional backspin by channeling away grass and sand for improved contact between the ball and groove edge. Proprietary Spin Milled technology also provides trajectory and distance control through precisely milled grooves and machined face texture, significantly reducing the chance of “flyers” from the rough.

The new Vokey TVD-K – available in 54º to 60º lofts – is the culmination of Vokey’s work with several PGA Tour players, including Adam Scott and Jason Dufner, to develop a sole that is playable in a variety of conditions. TVD-K features a wider, more cambered sole than any other Vokey model, making it very easy to use out of the bunker but still playable for a variety of shots around the green. The newest addition to the series, the TVD-K 54, provides a wide-sole sand wedge option that is not available in the new Vokey Spin Milled 5 (SM5) lineup.

“The K grind has been a huge hit for us,” Vokey said. “It’s only been on Tour for a couple of years but we already have 30 guys using it. I think the secret is the cambered sole. It is wide and forgiving, but the camber keeps the club moving through the turf. So it’s playable in a variety of conditions.”

The new TVD-M – available in 50º to 60º lofts – is the result of PGA Tour feedback on the design, shape and performance of the original TVD series. The new TVD-M has a more rounded teardrop profile, matching the shape of the TVD-K, with increased playability from the crescent-shaped M grind sole. The moderate effective bounce of the TVD-M makes it an excellent all-condition wedge.

“We’ve had a lot of requests to match up the chassis, or shape, of the TVD-M with the TVD-K,” Vokey said. “It’s the natural progression of the series. We now have three distinct shapes in the Vokey family: the SM5 with a high toe peak, the rounded teardrop of the TVD, and the compact look of the Hand Ground series. We have a look to fit anyone’s eye.”

NEW MODELS: For 2014, all TVD models feature the new Spin Milled TX3 grooves for additional spin with trajectory and distance control. The lineup also features the new TVD-K 54º, a wider sole sand wedge with camber. The TVD-M line has a new shape, with a more rounded teardrop profile.

NEW LOOKS: Vokey TVD-M and TVD-K wedges are available in two finishes, California Chrome and Black Ion, both exclusive to WedgeWorks. Both models also feature all-new Vokey graphics.

LOFT/BOUNCE COMBINATIONS:

TVD VS. SM5: The K grind offerings in the Vokey SM5 line (58.11, 60.11) have slightly wider soles and 1º more effective bounce than TVD-K (58.10, 60.10). The TVD-M 56.12 model has similar sole width with 2º more effective bounce than the SM5 56.10M.

CUSTOMIZATION OPTIONS: Like all WedgeWorks offerings, golfers can craft their wedges to fit both their game and personality with a nearly endless array of custom options.

WedgeWorks Exclusives offer four different character stamping styles – Straight, Freestyle,
Snow and the new Snow Dot option – in up to eight letters and/or numbers and one of 12 paintfill colors, from Oceanside Blue and Cerveza Yellow to Key Lime and Cowboy Orange.

“There isn’t a wedge I make on Tour that doesn’t have some type of personalized stamping,” said Vokey Tour Rep Aaron Dill, who works on the Titleist Tour Van. “Jason Dufner, for example, likes me to stamp ‘DUF’ on all his wedges. Zach Johnson has the names of children. Kevin Na has ‘NA’ in snow stamping all over the wedge. It’s totally personal.”

There are four toe-stamp options – Tour Saw, BV Custom, BV Diamonds and BV Clover – in 48 total possible color combinations. Golfers can also choose from seven different custom shaftbands and three ferrule options.

WedgeWorks offers BV grips in a variety of textures and colors to match the player’s look and feel preferences. New this year is the Vokey Whiteout Green Multi-Compound grip from Golf Pride along with the Vokey Niion Green grip from Golf Pride. Vokey also offers the WedgeWorks-only Kangaroo Leather grip in pinot red from GripMaster.

A high-performance shaft matrix includes wedge-specific shafts such as the Dynamic Gold Spinner and KBS Hi-Rev. The full complement of the Titleist custom shaft matrix is also available including graphite and lightweight shafts. WedgeWorks wedges can be laser etched on the shaft with up to 20 characters or numbers, offering an easy way to highlight a birthday, event or a player’s full name.

All Vokey wedges can be adjusted for length, loft and lie angle. Weight porting on the back of the wedge to dial in a specific swingweight is also available.

PRICE AND AVAILABILITY: Vokey TVD-K and TVD-M wedges will be available May 7 through WedgeWorks on Vokey.com or by custom order, with a suggested retail price of $160 plus personalization packages.

Modern Blade, Mid Mallet and Mallet Models Deliver
Tour-Proven Performance in New Silver Mist Finish

FAIRHAVEN, Mass. (Jan. 21, 2014) – Master Craftsman Scotty Cameron, inspired by the world’s best golfers and driven by an unparalleled attention to detail, introduces the new Select and GoLo putters – high performance, tour-proven models with precisely crafted looks, sound, feel and balance.

Every Scotty Cameron creation is rooted in decades of craftsmanship, putting research and testing with the best putters in the game, both inside Scotty’s state-of-the-art Putter Studio in California and on putting greens around the world. On the PGA Tour, Scotty Cameron putters have been the choice of more players since 1997 and counting.

New Scotty Cameron Select putters feature precision milled, highly refined shapes with tour-validated balance and stability. The new line includes three modern blade designs from Scotty’s tour-proven Newport family (Newport, Newport 2 and Newport 2.5) and two modern mid mallets (Fastback and Squareback) with innovative new crisscross sight lines for improved alignment.

New Scotty Cameron GoLo mallet putters feature an elegant rounded profile, with soft lines and necks for players that want to rid themselves of technical thoughts and produce a stroke with a natural flowing arc. Four models (GoLo 3, GoLo 5, GoLo S5, GoLo 7) with different size and neck configurations allow players to choose their preferred appearance and toe flow.

Select and GoLo putters use a deep-milled face to deliver tour-proven feel and soft sound. Select weights in the heel and toe are perfectly matched to the shaft length to provide balance and stability. Each model features striking new cosmetics, accented by a new Silver Mist finish with framed and double milled red-dot graphics and double beveled weights.

“My team and I are focused on one simple goal, designing and producing the finest putters in the world. The new Select and GoLo families, in addition to our high-MOI Futura X models, take us to the next level of performance and pure putting confidence,” said Cameron. “Every day, we strive to learn more about how the ball, the putter and the golfer work together, and how we can improve that connection. We’re continually experimenting with new designs, new materials and technologies.

“After using one of our putters, golfers sometimes tell me, ‘I don’t know why I like it, I just like it.’ That’s where the attention to detail comes in, making sure there is complete harmony between how it looks, how it sounds and how it feels.”

New Select putters are available in golf shops beginning March 14. New GoLo models are available beginning April 18.

SCOTTY CAMERON SELECT: The new Scotty Cameron Select putters are precision milled to meet the performance requirements of the world’s best players for looks, sound, feel and balance. The new Select line enhances the tradition of Scotty’s Newport family, a longtime tour favorite, while introducing new Fastback and Squareback mid mallets with advanced weighting and alignment technology.

The new Select Newport, a soft, modern blade with a plumbing neck, features a shorter blade length with back surfaces that round and roll elegantly into the ground. Select Newport 2 is a longer blade with crisp back angles, a plumbing neck and a single black sight line for refined precision. Select Newport 2.5, a new addition to the Select family, features the same crisp, modern blade as Newport 2, but with a short flare neck for increased toe flow.

“The Newport is roly-poly, with softer corners, while the Newport 2 is boxier and more square. Same performance, it just depends on which visual you like better,” Cameron said, “We’ve added a Newport 2.5, which is the same head as a Newport 2 but with a smaller, flare neck and a hair less offset. Visually, when we shorten that neck, the blade looks longer. By shortening the neck, the shaft axis also comes more toward the heel, which creates more toe flow for more of a swinging gate versus the more mechanical look of a plumbing neck.”

The new Select Fastback and Squareback are modern mid mallet designs with a single bend shaft that promotes minimal toe flow for players that want, or need, less arc in their putting stroke. The Fastback is round and soft like a Newport; the Squareback is crisp and boxy like a Newport 2.

Each have a short blade length and an extended back with a new, red aluminum soleplate that allows for a thicker steel face for solid feel. Vertical and horizontal “pop-through” sight lines on the back flange are positioned directly between a player’s eyes, providing a visual reference to help square the face.

“The new aluminum red sole plate allows us to take some weight and put it where we want it and need it most. We’ve grown the back, pulled in the heel and toe, thickened up the face and the top line. As a result, we’ve enhanced everything from the shape to the feel to the sound,” Cameron said.

“The red, crisscross sight lines are a continuation of the sole that pops up through the head. We’ve found through years of research at the Studio that the best players in the world putt with the ball slightly up in their stance, under their left eye. This places the crisscross sight lines, which are located on the back flange, directly under their nose and between their eyes.

“Whether you prefer a horizontal or vertical sight line, the crisscross makes it easier to square the face, putting your eyes in the right position to execute a proper arcing stroke. If you set the putter too far forward, the crisscross will make the face appear closed. If you put it too far back, it will look open. Alignment is more and more becoming the talk of the tour, and the feedback out there has been fantastic.”

SCOTTY CAMERON GOLO: The new Scotty Cameron GoLo mallets feature an elegant but modern, easy to align, rounded profile and racy soleplate design with Select weighting technology for increased stability. The balanced GoLo design helps reduce the tendency to manipulate the face and allows the stroke to flow naturally.

Each of the four models – GoLo 3, GoLo 5, GoLo S5 and GoLo 7 – has a clean, tour-preferred appearance that flows from the shaft down through the top line, continuing down through the curved back, which flows to the ground. The refined mallet shape with a single black sight line helps square the face, while the triple-angled sole with a slight camber allows for smooth takeaway. A slightly asymmetric back with a shaved heel promotes the ideal flowing stroke along an inside to square arc, with the 6061 aluminum sole plate and Select weighting technology providing exceptional balance, stability and roll.

GoLo 7, the original GoLo model, offers the largest head design with a clean, flowing single bend shaft for near minimum toe flow. The GoLo 5 features similar construction and performance, with a 10 percent smaller head size. The GoLo S5 is built with a straight-in, near-center shaft for a clean setup with no visible offset.

The newest addition to the GoLo line, the GoLo 3, has the smallest head shape with a heel-shafted flow neck for maximum toe flow, a unique combination for a mid mallet-style putter.

“GoLo 5 and GoLo 7 did very well on tour but we still had some guys asking for an even smaller head,” Cameron said. “It’s very difficult to take something larger and get the same design, looks and feel when you make it smaller. If you look closely at the GoLo 3, it has a pinched flow neck very reminiscent of our popular Del Mar model. I took the best parts of the Del Mar and the GoLo and started blending them together, shaving the heel to make it nonsymmetrical so the heel comes in and makes the toe look like it automatically wants to work. It comes around the back, pinches into the heel and flows up the neck into the shaft, promoting a generous open and close toe flow motion.”

REFINED COSMETICS: The new Select and GoLo putters return to the silver-and-red designs that have become synonymous with Scotty Cameron putters across the worldwide professional tours.

The new models feature a new, soft Silver Mist finish, with Scotty’s race-car inspired, framed and double-milled cherry dot graphics in the back and cherry dot weights in the sole to help create a modern but timeless appearance. Red Pistolero and Pistolini grips further enhance the look.

“We’ve optimized the paint process to produce this buttery, elegant Silver Mist finish,” Cameron said. “And I think the black sightline we’ve chosen for several of the models, as opposed to using white, gives it a richer, more elegant look. The entire look is very sleek, it’s industrial and mechanical and yet it has elegance.”

PISTOLERO/PISTOLINI GRIPS: The Scotty Cameron Pistolero and new Pistolini grips, featuring the dancing Cameron logo, provide a secure hold and great feel in golfer’s hands.

The Select Newport, Newport 2 and Newport 2.5 blade models feature the smaller Pistolini grip, while the Fastback and Squareback mid mallets and entire GoLo family have the Pistolero.

“What the head looks like and how big it is, dictates a feel of what you expect to feel in the grip, so we try to match the grip size and what we feel. Pistolini is more of a standard size grip for a Newport or blade style head. Once we start getting into a mid mallet or larger, we need the larger Pistolero grip to accommodate that feel for the head size.”

PRICE AND AVAILABILITY: New Scotty Cameron Select putters are available in golf shops beginning March 14. New GoLo putters are available beginning April 18. Both models have an MSRP of $375 ($349 MAP).
