Crane Tops Simpson in Playoff. Tom Lewis Wins First as Professional. Choi Holds Off Tseng on LPGA.
Fairhaven, MA (October 17, 2011) - Players striving to win at the highest levels of competitive golf require complete confidence in themselves and trust in their equipment. At the McGladrey Classic, Titleist Brand Ambassadors Ben Crane and Webb Simpson did just that, relying upon the Pro V1x golf ball and bags full of Titleist golf clubs to finish 1-2 in a sudden death playoff.
Crane closed with a 7-under par 63 that included eight birdies over the final 11 holes to reach the playoff en route to his fourth career victory. While Simpson, who has won twice this season, continued his career year and currently sits atop the 2011 PGA Tour money list with one event remaining.
The success stories continued around globe where, again this week, more players and more winners relied upon Titleist than all other golf balls combined. In addition to Crane’s victory on the PGA Tour, 20-year old Tom Lewis, playing in just his third European Tour event as a professional, captured the Portugal Masters. At the LPGA Malaysia, Na Yeon Choi edged fellow Pro V1x loyalist Yani Tseng by one shot for her first win of the year. Additional victories on the Asian, Korean and South African Tours advanced the 2011 worldwide win count for Titleist to 146, more than six times the nearest competitor with 23. Continued proof, that Titleist equipment doesn’t just meet the standard of the world’s best players, it sets it.
HIGHLIGHTS FOR WEEK ENDING OCTOBER 16, 2011
PGA TOUR: It was an all-Titleist Brand Ambassador playoff at the McGladrey Classic where Crane, who entered the final round five shots off the 54-hole lead held by Pro V1 loyalist Michael Thompson, finished tied in regulation with Simpson at 15-under 265. Thompson, a rookie, missed the playoff by one shot, but his third place finish marks his best performance of the season. Pro V1x loyalist Louis Oosthuizen closed with a 4-under 66 to finish at 13-under 267, good for solo 4th.
- With the win, Crane becomes the 16th different full-product Titleist Brand Ambassador to win on the PGA Tour this season. Titleist full product line Brand Ambassadors have now won 19 times to date on the PGA Tour.
- Titleist golf ball players claimed 9 of the top-10 spots at the event. Titleist was the overwhelming golf ball of choice with 87 players, nearly seven times the nearest competitor (13). Titleist also was first in iron sets (36); sand, lob and approach wedges (114); and putters (50). Titleist was second in drivers (34); and fairway metals (36).

EUROPEAN TOUR: Tom Lewis (Pro V1) closed with a 7-under 65 en route to 21-under par 263 victory total, two shots clear of runner-up and Titleist Brand Ambassador Rafael Cabrera-Bello (Pro V1x, 910D3 driver, 910Fd fairway metal, 910H hybrid, New MB prototype irons, Vokey Design wedges, Scotty Cameron Studio Select Newport 2 putter). Lewis is now exempt for two years on the European Tour.

LPGA TOUR: Na Yeon Choi reversed the outcome of the previous week’s 1-2 finish by holding off hard-charging World No. 1 Yani Tseng to win the Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia. The win was the first of the year for Choi and the fifth of her three-year career. She has posted ten top-10 finishes this season, including two runner-up performances. Choi fired a final round 3-under 68 to finish at 15-under 269. Tseng, who started the final round four shots behind Choi, closed with a 6-under 65.

SOUTH AFRICAN: Titleist Brand Ambassador Doug McGuigan (Pro V1x, 910D3 driver, New CB prototype irons, Vokey Design wedges, Scotty Cameron putter) won his fifth career Sunshine Tour title in a playoff at the KCM Zambia Open. McGuigan outlasted fellow Titleist Brand Ambassador Jean Hugo (Pro V1x, 910D3 driver, 910F fairway metal, New MB prototype irons, Vokey Design wedges) on the fifth extra hole after both players finished regulation at 16-under par 272. Pro V1x loyalists Robert Wiederkehr, Bradford Vaughan, and Allan Versfeld, finished 3rd through 5th, as Titleist golf ball players secured the top five positions on the leaderboard.

ASIAN: David Gleeson of Australia (Pro V1x) captured the Hero Indian Open for his third career Asian Tour title, and his first since 2008. Gleeson stretched his one shot overnight lead to a winning margin of three strokes following a final round 4-under 68, and a 20-under 268 victory total. Runner-up Chiragh Kumar of India (Pro V1x, ZB Irons, Vokey Design pitching, sand and lob wedges) finished solo 2nd, while Ross Bain (Pro V1x) and last week's winner, LU Wei Chih of Taiwan (Pro V1x), tied for 3rd place another shot back.

KOREA: Kang, KyungNam (Pro V1, 910F fairway metal, 910H hybrid, Vokey Design gap and sand wedges, Scotty Cameron Studio Select Newport Circle T Putter) closed with a 1-under 70 at the Meritz Solmoro Open to earn his second win of the season. Kang finished at 7-under 277 for a one-shot win over Titleist Brand Ambassador Han, MinKyu (Pro V1, 910D3 driver, 910H hybrid, CB irons, Vokey Design wedges, Scotty Cameron Studio Select Newport Circle T putter).

Designed, developed and refined through product and player research conducted at the state-of-the-art Cameron Putter Studio and on practice greens across the world, Cameron putters are precision-milled instruments of uncompromised feel, looks and performance that have come to symbolize a profound blend of art, technology, form and function. CAMERON CALIFORNIA PUTTERS – BACKGROUND: Scotty Cameron California putters were born from timeless, tour-proven designs and the modern weighting technology used in the successful line of Scotty Cameron Studio Select putters. Studio Select technology allows for precise balancing of putter head weight with shaft length. This technology, also incorporated into the original generation of California putters, provides a broader range of choices for length and weight to optimize performance for a wide range of putting strokes.
The first incarnation of California putters were inspired by several of Cameron’s favorite designs from among his early Classics and Handmade models. These models appeal to players who prefer more fluid, less geometric lines and whose putting strokes might best be characterized as less “mechanical.” With the California line, these players found that they no longer had to sacrifice performance for an aesthetically pleasing design. With the wide range of weight and length options that the California line offered, these players could now get a perfect fit for their stroke as well as their eye.
NEW FOR 2011: The 2011 California line builds on the form-meets-function achievements of the original California putters, accentuating an important Scotty Cameron design principle – visual flow.
“My main objective for the new California designs was to take the visual flow to a new level,” explained Master Putter Designer Scotty Cameron. “When you look down at a great putter in the address position, it’s easy to imagine the putter head flowing naturally right into the ground. The refinements we made to these five new models meet and exceed that ideal. It might be a bit esoteric, but you get the sense that water won’t splash off these putters. It looks like water will just roll off the contours of the putters and shed gently off the edges.”
Over thirty refinements were made in order to achieve the balanced shapes and blended surface and edge transitions found in the new California putters. Angles in the face, sole and neck are precisely milled to ensure that each model presents a perfectly square set-up at address. Incorporating a trend that has become popular among Cameron enthusiasts on Tour, the new California putters feature deeper milling in the face of the putter. This modification results in a softer sound at impact, yielding a feel that many better putters prefer.
Each California putter is equipped with a new Pistolero grip with a dancing Cameron logo for a secure hold and great feel in the hands. Also new for 2011, the California putters feature a new Sea Mist finish and recessed red Tour dot graphics that call to mind the tail lights of vintage American automobiles. Coupled with the clean uninterrupted appearance of the stepless shaft, the new California graphics create a modern but timeless look.
Cameron California putters are precision milled from soft 303 stainless steel and fitted with circular weights in the heel and toe that allow each model to be offered at 33”, 34” and 35” lengths well as 34”H and 35”H heavier weight configurations. In addition, California putters can be lie adjusted +/- 2 degrees off the standard 71 degrees for even greater fine-tuning. The new line features five models – Del Mar, Fastback, Monterey, Monterey 1.5 and Sonoma - characterized by blade and mid-mallet style heads with five different neck styles. In combination, all these different options make it easy for players to choose a Cameron California putter with the appearance they prefer, the length and weight they need, and a neck configuration that provides the proper amount of toe flow during the stroke.
Each Cameron California putter features a draft sole design that keeps the putter square in the playing position for proper alignment and a high toe set-up that reduces the tendency for players to raise the toe and aim left of target. All five California models are also appointed with a new simulated carbon fiber headcover.
CAMERON CALIFORNIA MODEL DESCRIPTIONS
Del Mar: A heel shafted mid mallet for maximum toe flow during the stroke. Designed with a single sightline on the back flange and a flare neck hosel with a ¾ shaft offset. Available in both right and left hand.
Fastback: A modified Newport-style mid mallet design featuring a more compact head heel-to-toe with a rounded back flange, three sight lines and a single bend shaft with a full shaft of offset. The Fastback is a near face-balanced putter with minimum toe flow. Formerly offered in the Studio Select line, the Fastback replaces the Hollywood in the California line. Available in right hand only.
Monterey: A blade body with smooth double-step flange with a back pocket and single site line, the Monterey features a plumbing neck hosel with a full shaft of offset for medium toe flow. Available in both right and left hand.
Monterey 1.5: A blade body with smooth double-step flange with a back pocket and single site line, the Monterey 1.5 features a medium flare neck hosel with a ¾ shaft offset for near-maximum toe flow. The Monterey 1.5 replaces the Coronado model in the California line. Available in right hand only.
Sonoma: A compact mid-mallet with a D-shaped back flange and sight line. The Sonoma features a round flow neck with ¾ shaft of offset for medium toe flow. Available in right hand only.

Titleist introduces new MB and CB forged irons (712 Series) featuring
improved looks, feel and performance. Both models build upon the
tour-proven classic designs of their 710 series predecessors. Brought
to market in 2009, the 710 MB and CB irons confirmed Titleist as the
leader in traditional forged iron design. In fact, since their initial
launch, the Titleist MB has been the most-played iron model on the PGA
TOUR. In combination with the CB, AP1 and AP2 models, Titleist irons
