This One Was a Winner!

On the first of May, playing in a charity scramble with three of my long-time golf buddies, I had, for me, a real first. On our 17th hole (#3 on the course), all the others had already hit, none of them really close to the green, much less the hole. We had GPS'ed the pin at 164, and there was a sign on the hole offering a prize for a hole-in-one--as there had been on each of the other par 3's on the course. I hit my 712 AP-2 5 iron on what appeared to be a good trajectory and it flew the bunker guarding the front pin on the green (and which hid the hole from our view). The ball took an excellent bounce directly toward the pin and disappeared. When we got up by the green, we could not see a ball anywhere on the green or off the back on the line I hit. I asked one of my playing partners to look in the hole--just joking, of course, but there was my TT Pro V1 in the bottom of the cup. We celebrated, took photos, and even called someone up from the following group to validate the ace. I'm still waiting for the prize, naturally. Our group, even with this, finished in the middle of the pack, but the -2 on our next-to-the-last hole really picked up our spirits. This was my third ace, all within the past three and a half years, after waiting almost 56 years for the first.
