Golf Made Easy - ACE!!!

Good Evening,

I gladly write this email. I’m a less than average golfer, playing once per week in my local golf league (anywhere from a 9-12 handicap on 9 holes). I bought new clubs last season. After some steady research, I outfitted my entire bag (including the bag) with CB gear. I bought the Baffler Irons (hybrid set), Driver, and 3 wood. I’ve been really happy with them. They are forgiving, and play pretty straight even when I don’t!

Two weeks ago, on Thursday, July 2nd, I started my league round on the Gold 9 at Scott Lake Country Club in Comstock Park, MI. I bogeyed the first hole - pretty typical. The second hole is a 195 par 3. It’s straight, slightly uphill, with bunkers on the right side. The way the sun sets behind the hole, it’s hard to see the ball after about three quarters of the way there. But, I stepped to the tee with my Baffler Hybrid in hand. 190-200 is a good distance for me with this club. We shot the flag stick with a range finder at 195 yards. I go through my short pre-swing routine and then step to the ball and let it rip. I hit a lower trajectory shot with a slight fade but heading right at the hole. Of course, ¾ of the way there we lose sight of the ball. So, I knew it was good, maybe even a little long. Each of the members of my foursome hit great shots as well. We expected to see 4 balls either on the green or at a minimum 1 or 2 on the fringe.

As we drive up to the green, we are counting the balls, 1 ball on the green, 2 balls on the green, and a third ball a little long on the left fringe. Perfect, I hit a good shot, not on the green but I’m still putting for birdie from the fringe. I can handle that. However, when I got to that ball on the fringe, it wasn’t mine. By this time we were all starting to wonder where the 4th ball was. One of the members of my group then went to check the hole….and….there….it….was!! A, eh hem, modest celebration ensued as you could imagine.

This was my first, and hopefully not last, hole in one. It was an exciting night. I fell apart the rest of the round, but didn’t really much care. News spread of the shot of my life, and I got back to the club house 7 holes later to find many of my thirsty league mates waiting to congratulate me (and by congratulate I mean mooch a free drink off me). But, they took it easy on me and I got out of the bar just shy of $100 – totally worth the hole in one!!!

P.S. I was playing a Titleist 2 that day, a lesser ball may not have found the cup!
