Franco goes low in Canada for first Senior Tour Victory

Titleist golf ball loyalist Carlos Franco (Pro V1) fired a pair of 7-under-par 63’s on the weekend to win the Shaw Charity Classic and capture his first career PGA TOUR Champions crown.

Franco’s 54-hole score of 18-under-par 192 was one shot clear of fellow Titleist golf ball loyalists Michael Allen (Pro V1x) and Bernhard Langer (Pro V1).

"I'm so happy I finally won my first tournament on the PGA TOUR Champions especially here in Canada," Franco said. "I saw Bernhard Langer, I saw the other guys. I said, 'Oh, my gosh, I have to play good'. Winning on the PGA TOUR Champions is not easy because everybody is a winner here.”

Allen also closed with a 63 while Langer finished with a 64.

Franco topped a leaderboard that included nine Titleist golf ball loyalists among the 11 players who finished in the top 10 and ties, including each of the top five.

Franco’s weekend finish was the lowest final two rounds on PGA TOUR Champions this year. He becomes the sixth first-time winner in 2016.
