  1. HELP!!!!!!!! Have recently purchased a Titleist 913d2 driver and I was slicing with my previous png G20. I thought that its forgiveness would rectify my slice. Still doing big banana slices and constantly missing fairways. If I can rectify this, I could be shooting in the 70s! Thanks

Dude ,so many things that come into play to slice a ball.

All the stuff on the Internet.

Quick fix Possibly:Try moving your right foot back a bit (not wider) but back .(right handed golfer)

    Check the fundamentals:Gips,stance ,alignment,Posture.

That's what you should check all the time.

A ball will slice Because of side spin on the ball, club path in relation to clubface at impact.

Trick is to find where the clubface and path are square to the target line at the bottom of your natural swing and tee the ball up there. Also 2deg up at impact will take away top or bottom spin.(back spin ,over spin)

Taking into account that you transfer your body weight correctly in the transition from backswing to downswing .

Also note that equipment can also add to the problem : is the shaft too stiff ?

Flex in a shaft will relate to at what point in your swing the club head arrives at the ball ,more flex arrives late less flex arrives early.

    Good Luck.

I too had the same problem but there are many different ways to fix a slice but for me the one thing that helped was this. Chances are your coming across the ball so pretend you are hitting the ball to the right side of the fairway but aiming straight. Note, since this worked for me it might not work for you so try this on the range first before bringing it to the course.

Some quick fixes. Strengthen your grip by rotating both hands clockwise where you can see two to three knuckles on your left hand. Lay the head cover of your driver a couple of inches to the right of the ball and parallel to the target line which will promote an inside to out swing instead of a outside to in swing. If you clip the head cover on your downswing you are coming from the outside to in which puts a slice spin on the ball. As already stated, square your club face with your target (center field) but you have to swing out to right field. The rotation of your body and club will bring the ball back to center field. One more thing. Address the ball with a little more weight forward on your left foot but keep your head behind the ball. Your weight will shift back to your right foot on the backswing and then back to the left foot on the downswing but your head will remain behind the ball until impact. This may seem complicated so just start out swinging nice and easy and forget about distance. Once you see the ball going straight or with a little draw then you can increase your swing speed.

    Hi Charlie,

Quite a tall task!  Sorry, but the truth is that no one can fix your swing without seeing it.  There are simply far too many factors.  I recommend finding a local pro to help you fix your ball flight.  A slice means that you are imparting left to right spin on the ball.  This happens when the clubface is pointed right of where the path of your swing is pointed.  All you need to do is come into the ball with a straight clubface while delivering the club from the "inside."  To better your chances at doing this, ensure that your grip is square.  You should see two or three knuckles on your left hand at address.  Also make sure your body alignment is correct.  You can place a club down across your toes to check this.  (Most likely, you're aimed left.)  Finally, make sure you're not "hitting from the top."  At the top of your swing, make absolute sure that you're starting with your lower body and delivering the club from the inside.  The drill mentioned by Carl T with the headcover is a great way to ensure that you're doing it right!

These are the most common mistakes I've witnessed among slicers.  There are many, many things that causes a slice.  Again, no one can help you without seeing your swing, so do yourself a favor and go get yourself checked out by a pro.

You may find this youtube channel helpful.  youtube.com/user/RickShielsPGAGolf/videos .  He just finished a series of three videos 3 weeks ago that I found helpful for golfers that cannot hit their driver.

Good luck, mate!  Hope this helps!

    Sam
