Have you tried or do you play the Velocity golf ball regularly?

    Hi Mitch! Timely topic!

I just played last week in a Team Scramble Tournament. For those that may not be familiar with the term, the scramble style tournament is the one where all four players hit a tee shot then judge which one is the "best". Everyone then picks up their ball and plays the next shot from that spot. Its repeated until your team holes out.

In any event, I picked up a sleeve of Velocity balls for the tournament to use off the tee! I did not want to leave any stone unturned in that search for a legal advantage in our tournament! The ball was good off the tee - I really liked it for the tee shots! It had some good roll out once it came down to the fairway.

I normally play a Pro V1x and so I continued to use the Pro V1x for my par 3 shots and for all of my approach shots/putts, etc. It would be nice to hear from those that play the Velocity as their primary ball!

I ordered four boxes of Velocity balls for our annual Turkey Day Golf Extravaganza and had them custom engraved with TDGE XIII. I gave each person in our foursome a dozen balls to use during our week long golf outing. The overall response was that the balls were certainly long and felt soft. One of the guys always plays the E6 and another likes the cally ball. They all liked the Velocity so much that despite the fact that they did not want to lose all of their engraved balls, they used them for the entire week (until they ran out that is).
Like DIno, my preferred ball is the ProV1x and i did like the Velocity, but I still found that the ProV1 ball is better as an all around ball for distance and control.

  4. I like the Velocity ball when the weather turns cooler. I switch to them from ProV1 in the fall. If the prototype balls we got last fall were the new Velocity then I'd say that I like them a lot.

i won a box of Velocity balls at a Charity scramble this year. I have played them a number of times. I do seem to get 10-15 yds further off the tee with them over the NXT Tour S
  6. When I am searching for distance, I sometimes go to the Velocity ball. It seems I always keep coming back to the Pro V1x however. In normal weather, the Pro V is just as long, and around the green nothing spins like it. It is not uncommon for me to play the entire round with the same ball, so cost is not really an issue. I usually replace a ball after 18 holes or so because it is marked up. I don't really notice the Velocity being more durable. I also do not really notice much difference between the Velocity and DT Solo, now True soft. but that is just me. Again, around the green and putting, you can't beat a Pro V1.

This spring I started using Pro V1x after years of Pro V1. However, I decided to try the Velocity and bought 2 sleeves to give it a go. I have played 4 rounds, different courses, over the last 8 days and am pretty impressed. I still have a new sleeve left. They like to go straight and I think felt softer than when I first tried one that a friend gave me a couple of years ago. I live in Massachusetts and will try them for my "winter" ball this year. I do recommend you give them a try.
