Titleist Stand bag

    I'm looking to pick up a Titleist stand bag for next season and I was wondering if someone could explain the differences between the models.  Obviously there is the weight difference, but what do I give up when going to a lightweight bag.  I was looking at the 14 way top stand bag and lightweight stand bag yesterday in a store.  I noticed the lightweight bag had less pockets, but it seemed like it had almost the same amount of overall storage space.  How close to being accurate is that statement?  

    I essentially destroyed my right collarbone a few years ago and now it's basically a steel plate, screws, and a little bit of bone.  So limiting the weight on that shoulder is a very high priority to me.  From a practical real-world perspective, how noticeable is the weight difference?  There's about a 2 pound difference between the heaviest and lightest stand bag, but is that really even noticeable once loaded up?  

    I like the waterproof features the Sta-dry bag offers, but I want to get the TT logo embroidered.  I thought I remember reading that is not possible on the Sta-dry bag as it would compromise the waterproofing.  Is that accurate?

    I have a 14 way top on my current cart bag and I really like it.  I like that each club has a spot and it makes it easy to find a club and put it back.  One complaint I've heard is that the clubs rattle more with a 14 way top.  I haven't noticed it with a cart bag, but has anyone noticed it on a carry bag?

    Finally, for those of you that currently have one or multiple stand bags, which do you like best and why?  If you could do it again, would buy the same bag or would you get a different model?

    Hi Tdogg, I bought the new 2016 lightweight stand bag on Monday. I have used png golf bags throughout the majority of my playing life as I like the strap system and the way the base of the bag sits, however the new lightweight bag is great. I was planning on buying the Stadry 4UP lightweight bag but was apprehensive due to the 3 way cuff divider at the top. I wouldn't have minded the extra cost as the waterproofing was what I wanted but I am glad I went with the lightweight. It was cheaper but well put together and the strap system is pretty good. Just for the record I carry 14 clubs, a large towel, 5 balls and a pouch with some tees and markers etc in and that's it. So my bag is always very light.

    Walking has been very infrequent since my accident.  Mainly because many of the courses I play either require a cart or it's essentially the same price with a cart.  But also because of my shoulder.  So when I do carry my bag, there is practically nothing in the pockets.  A couple of tees, a few golf balls, and that's about it.  But I like to have the option to carry more stuff if the situation calls for it.  That's why I'm curious as to how much actual storage space you lose when moving to the different style bags.  I've also used and liked the same carry bags that you did, so it's good to hear you like the strap system on the Titleist bag.

    Also, does anyone have an answer about if you can customize a StaDry bag?  Or does it ruin the waterproofing capabilities?

    I have a feeling the embroidered customizing does make the bag less water resistant. I have two 'StaDry' bags and all of the identification markings on the bag, are silk screened on in some fashion. It makes sense, poking a bunch of holes into your bag can't be a good thing.

    That's exactly what I was thinking.  Just ask the 2010 US Ryder Cup team how they felt about tiny needle holes in their rain suits.  But I was hoping to get a definite answer.  Maybe Titleist came up with some magic voodoo science to keep it waterproof!  haha.

    I moved to an Ultra Lightweight stand bag at the beginning of this year and have loved it. I have yet to have a moment when I needed more storage space than the Ultra Lightweight offered. Just last week, I had rain pants, a short sleeve rain jacket, and a sweater folded in the large side pocket with no problems.

    A big reason I went with the ultra lightweight is I primarily walk and carry my bag. The strap system is solid and the weight difference was immediately noticeable for me. And, I thought the three club dividers would bother me, but I actually like it. I find my clubs have less bag chatter and stay more in place because they are in a bit more compact space.

    I know you don't walk much, but I wanted to let you know of my experience with the Ultra Lightweight. Seems like the lightweight stand bag is the route for you as it gives you some weight savings, but a little more storage than the Ultra, and you can customize it with TT embroidery.

    No matter what, you'll get a great bag that will serve you well and look awesome!

    the latest Titleist gear catalog lists the Sta-Dry bags as being eligible for embroidery.  I'm still debating between the light weight stand, ultra light weight stand or the Sta-Dry light weight.

    my question is still how the sta-dry bag can be 2 pounds lighter than the ultra light weight bag

    That's what I'm trying to figure out as well.  Obviously all of the bags are just a little different and weigh a little different.  I'm curious as to why?  Some things (like a 14 way top) might be worth a little extra weight to me.  But other things (like extra pockets) aren't worth it to me.  I'm also still curious about overall space in the pockets.  When I compared two bags in a store, they had a different number of pockets, but because of the way it was designed, it looked like it had the same amount of storage space.
