Titleist prototype balls

Hello all,

Does anyone know how one is selected to test Titleist prototype balls?  I think this would be a cool opportunity for anyone, and I'm sure that I could help Titleist with some feedback if I were ever to be selected.

Thanks

Futurepro17, I'm not sure how we got selected to test the Titleist prototype golf balls, but they are great golf balls. They played longer than the Pro V1 and they were softer with less spin. I can't wait to purchase them in the near future.

I agree, I've been a loyal Titleist user for 15-20 years(bought too many Titleist clubs but I love them anyway) but I'm little peeved that I heard that few people that just bought new Titleist clubs recently for 1st time got some prototype balls while many of us longtime loyal Titleist customers didn't get any.

I have no idea, but I would guess it a random draw.

I was wondering the same thing myself.  Haven't been selected as of yet.

thanks..mrb

I was lucky enough to get three balls. All I can say is wow. They are amazing.

The selection, I believe is random. I was selected, the balls are amazing. They have the feel of the best balata I ever struck, but with the response when compressed of tthe most reactive ball that I have played. These are amazing, wish I could get my hands on a couple of dozen..."my precious"......Great job Titleist!!

Well my friend maybe you will be lucky enough to be picked one of these days. I was selected and I am testing one of there prototype balls, and let me tell you it is one great ball, has all the feel of  a PROVI and all distance of a PROV1X, IN SHORT IT IS THE BEST BALL I EVER HIT.  I took it to the course today and only played nine holes, but out of those nine holes I hit eight out of nine greens in regulation.

What's going on man,

Write a letter to Titleist showing your interest and your intent on participating. Make your high interest level known to them when you write.

Best regards

Scutti

One of my friends has received the prototype balls. He said he took a couple of the regular surveys and he was picked to use them. He received them around two weeks afterwards but I don't think you can apply to get them.

Good question. I signed on to this site after buying new AP1 irons and registered. I received an email asking if I would be interested in testing balls, and of course said YES. Recieved a sleeve of balls that are marked similar to Pro v1 but they say TEST between the alinghment arrows. Ball is nice, long and really pops off the driver. Cover seems a little harder than Pro v-1, but plenty of spin and control around the green. Ball flight was abt the same for me as the Pro v-1 I normally play.

So how did they choose me?? I have no idea......

Good luck.  RF

Hi Bill,

Thanks for the post. We certainly appreciate your feedback. Sorry you weren't selected for this recent test panel but there will be more opportunities in the future for Team Titleist members to participate in other test panels.  Thanks again and stay tuned.

Don't mean to sound like sour grapes but wouldn't mind trying some out.

It's ok, I'll just  pitch up a tent then stand in the line and wait for them to come out. Ha.

The golf balls are amazing.  This is the first thing I've ever been selected to review.  Much less spin off the driver and long irons, so they were straighter than the Pro V1, excellent spin on the short irons.  Definitely a little harder feeling on chips and especially putts, but I would switch to this ball in a second.  Much straighter off the driver.  I'd love to know what current ball it most closely resembles because maybe I shouldn't be playing the Pro V1.

I don't think buying new Irons has anything to do with it.  I have been using my 990's forever and was lucky enough to be selected in the test panel.  I think it was more random.  I would say just keep your profile updated, and participate in the Forum and keep your head up- you'll get picked for something.

I really liked the test ball.

It took some time to get used to, as the spin was less around the greens, and I couldn't shape my shots as much as I'm used to with the ProV.  The ball is way more durable.  I played 5 times with the same ball and it only suffered one scuff (took a nice slap from the cart path).  I used the same ProV for 4 of the 5 rounds and it's way worse off.

Tee shots- Test ball was longer, straighter, and rolled more.  I got a more penetrating ball flight.

Hybrids and 3 Wood- About the same, test ball was a touch longer, and didn't shape as much

Irons- About the same, Test ball was maybe a yard or two longer, and didn't shape as much

Wedges- More spin with the Pro V (check and spin backwards a yard or so)  test ball- check and stop

Chips- more spin with the Pro V.  I allowed for more roll out with the test ball, and it was consistent as ever.  The only time I like the Pro V better was with tight lies and from the sand

Putting- I like the feel of the Pro V.  Test ball felt good, but had a click sound to it.   I just like the softness and feel of the Pro V

I'm not sure if it's a new Pro V or what.  The dimples were different than the Pro V, and the color was a little different too.  The first round I wasn't convinced that the test ball was a keeper, but by the end of the testing I'm sold.  I will be picking up a box or two of these beauties.
