ProV golf balls for seniors. The."Pro V Senior"

    Everyone I play with ...High Handicapers and low are seniors...over 50 at least.. We don't have swing speeds of 100  and  many not over 85. We want a golf ball with all the characteristrics of the ProV1.. But with a lower compression yet the same qualities as the Pro V balls you now make...We've played all of the types of your golf balls....but feel they are not the same ...you got to admit "ProV  Senior "does lend itself to  geat marketability. The price is not a considration but the compression is ...What do you think

    Hi C.L. Gary,

    We hear this question about swing speed and compression a lot out in the field. We've talked to our golf ball fitting experts and R&D team to help shed a little more light on the subject and one of the important things to remember is that there is no single element of golf ball design or construction that determines the performance characteristics. You have to look at all elements when designing a golf ball.

    As for compression, the golf ball is always going to compress when force is applied. It might compress more if you are hitting a shot with a full-swing and it might compress less with a partial swing shot, but it is still going to compress. If you're concerned about distance we've found that the differences between models off the driver for swing speeds ranging from tour players (near 110 mph) down to lower speed players (in the 80s mph) are less than 4 yards - and that distance is not game changing or score changing.

    Game changing differences are found on the scoring shots into and around the green, and the Pro V1 and Pro V1x offer the most performance control on all shots. Golfers of all skill levels and swing speeds play Pro V1 because of this real performance benefit.

    We also like to remind golfers during the education process that when we are developing golf balls we are designing them for all shots, with all of the clubs in a golfers bag. Within any particular golfer’s game, he or she utilizes a variety of shots that require large variation in swing speeds. The golf ball has to perform for all shot types and the varying swing speeds with which those shots are hit.
    That's     why we look at the entire game with our fitting process and not just one performance attribute like driver swing speed.  Our goal in golf ball design and fitting is to help golfers shoot lower scores. The best way for golfers to do that is to get out on the course and see how well they can execute shots into the green.

    Thanks for your speedy reply  ..it seems strange that a swing speed of 85    wil only be out distanced by 4 or so yards with a seeing speed of 110...was this done on  a robot  machine or as some call it the "Iron Byron"?? How was this determined?

    I think they meant that if someone swings at 85 mph, all shots with any ball will only differ by 4 yards. So a ProV and NXT will only be 4 yards different. And also, for a 110 mph swing, all shots from any ball will only differ by 4 yards. I don't think they meant that a 110 moh swing was only 4 yards longer than an 85 mph swing.
