I've found both balls similar off the tee. Both hit an equal number of GIR's, with the ProV1 usually a couple of feet closer. Around the green, the ProV1 checks up nicely and gits-ur-done. Putting, for me, is about feel, and again its the ProV1. But, if have to give the ProV1x its due. For workability, their hasn't been a ball to compare to the ProV1x since the balata Titleist of the early 1980's. -------Thank you.
I had a little different experience. The X was a lot easier to play off of the tee. I have a high draw and with the ProV it spun way too much, especially in the wind. I will agree around the green the ProV is very nice, but not so much that I wanted to play it over the X. The X also backed up for me with CC wedges a lot on full shots, so I will stick with it, but that is why they make 2 of them. A little help for all of us!
I personally love the new Pro V1 - I am going to try the X soon - but so far I have shot my lowest scores in 3 years with the Pro V1, last two rounds of 83 and 81 (was putting for 79 on 18, but 3 jacked it) - so, thus far, the Pro V1 is IT for me.
I also hit a draw off the tee and with most of my shots actually, with an occasional cut thrown in when needed, and I think the spin of the Pro V1 is ideal - without it how can you work the ball? If it hooks or cuts too much that's our fault, not the ball!

I hit a low, running tee shot so spin had no effect on my tee shots. I am just a short-game fanatic and that's why the favoritism.
i havnt tried the new pro v1 yet i have however tried the pro v1x and loved it off the tee and not bad around the greens, anxious to try the pro v though
