  1. The Titleist website says that the AP2 irons have a swingweight of D2 for standard length clubs. Can you please tell me what the swingweight would be with the following shaft?

    1. True Temper Dynamic Gold X100 1/2" longer than stock with grip size +1/32.

    Thank you.

Built with standard weight heads, the swingweight will come out to D5 +/-1.  If you would prefer a lighter swingweight, please make sure your pro shop specifies the swingweight as they can build it to D2 if it is on the order.

I ordered and received AP2 irons with VS Proto 75 stiff, length, lie angle, all standard.   I cannot feel the club head when I swing the irons.  When I ordered them at Golfsmith, I specified the swing weight of D2.  I am not sure the clubs are D2.  If the clubs are D2, can you increase the swing weight to D3 or possibly D4?  Thank you so much, and Merry Christmas.  Sung Im

If you order AP2 irons with the VS Proto shaft at standard length, they will be built to a C8 swingweight.  Due to the weight and balance of that shaft vs a standard DYG, we cannot achieve a D2 swingweight with standard length and grip.  We might have been able to get to a C9, maybe a D0, which would be the maximum swingweight we could achieve with that shaft.

  5. Hello, Cathi,

    Happy New Year!
Thank you very much for the response.

What would be a solution, then?

Can you use heavier club heads?  Can you increase the lengths of the VS shafts?

C8 or C9/D0 is too light for me.

Please advise.  By the way, what is DYG?

    Thank you.

Since the clubs have already been built at that length, the fastest and easiest solution would be to put a lighterweight grip on it to increase the swingweight.  If you were building the clubs from scratch, the maximum swingweight we would have been able to achieve with that shaft at standard length and grip would be a D0 because the standard shaft in that head is a Dynamic Gold S300 (DYG) and it weighs approximately 130 grams.  If you go with lightweight steel, we can achieve a heavier swingweight (D2) at standard length and grip.

  7. Hi Cathi,

While we're on the topic, can you please let me know your thoughts on this?

I've got AP2 710's, and am going to order the 712's.

However, I've been using Lamkin NDur 3Gen Midsize grips (68 grams from their website) with two wraps of tape on the bottom hand, and four wraps on the top.

They feel great in my hands, but I can't feel the clubhead (obviously, I know...)

Anyways, I'm hoping that when I custom order with Dynamic Gold S300's at standard length that you'll be able to get me back to a D2, or even D3 swingweight.  Will this be possible with this setup?

    Thanks!

    Bill

Hi Bill,  I looked on their website and did not see that grip.  We do offer the Performance Plus 3Gen which weighs about 59 grams and can get that to about a D4.  When you place your order, ask for the PP 3Gen in the box (I am assuming you are using your own grip) and ask for a D4 swingweight.  That is the heaviest they can build that head and shaft at that length.

  9. Great, thanks a lot Cathi!

    Bill
