I have the 910 D2 and I was wondering if the 913 is compatible so I could just buy the head. If so, how much would it cost?

That's good news if the hosel setup will be the same between the 910 and 913 heads.

  4. I'm also wondering how it is that drivers just keep supposedly getting longer everytime one is introduced. We should be hitting them off the planet by now. I love my 910 D2 but it's getting ridiculous with all these claims. When we purchase a new driver and it's then outdated within a year that creates a problem. The resale on golf clubs is already terrible and with new one's coming out like rabbits there's no wonder. I take very good care of all my clubs that doesn't seem to matter. Also a question, I have a really hard time finding the real sweet spot on my 910, I hit the center of the face 90% of the time but I very seldom get that "compressed" feel from the ball. Any suggestions?

  5. Thats great news....what are the big enhancements in the head?

Titleist debuts its clubs once every two years

Typically, drivers now get "longer" by making it more forgiving towards the perimeters of the face as Titleist states it has done with the 913, by reducing spin, launching more optimally, and improving aerodynamics, along with fitting the shaft to the player - it's more of an overall approach than any one improvement that validates a claim that our driver is now longer.

  7. But my point is this, this claim has been made since the very first Big Bertha, every year every driver was supposedly longer. Then you add the new balls so where is all this distance? A friend of mine has a R7 and I hit it at least as far as my 910D, sometimes further. I do like my Titleist but as I said in my first post it seems to be impossible to be consistent with the sweet spot. The center of the face shows the wear from where I've hit it but I rarely get that compressed feel and sound from the club. To be perfectly honest if I had it to do over I would have saved the almost $400 I spent on the 910 and just went with a used driver. I had it fit by a professional also and unless I really get extreme with the settings on the hosel I see no difference in that either. I just leave it at A1 all the time now. Everything you said (froneputt) about reducing spin, launch angle etc. was also said about the 910 that's what I don't understand about the claims. The next model will also say the same thing.

    Alright everybody,

I have asked Cathi at club concierge if you can just buy a head but you can't. You have to buy a shaft with the driver.

Also, the sure-fit hosel might be a little different in the 913.

I noticed this thread never answered the original question.  Titleist doesn't sell heads alone - you'd have to buy it with any standard charge shaft to reuse your 910D shaft with a new head.  For the drivers, the adaptor is the same.  For the F/H they are looking at refitting 910 shafts to fit the 913 models that are diffenent (and not interchangable) if you want to reuse those shafts.

Is there a good reason to buy a new set of clubs with every release?  No.  Clubs do break if you play them enough or at least the face wears down.  Not to mention very few of us are static - we tend to age, some to our peak, most of us past our peak.  If I had a 909D2 and then got 10 yards distance or 10 yards tighter dispernsion with an adjustable hosel with a 910D2, then it would be worth it to me.  I doubt the improved smash factor/loft from a 913D2 will be that much better than a 910, but probably offer improved performance (bigger sweet spot, less dispersion, and a new shaft updated to my current swing) over a 5 year old 907.  Do you think that it is steroids or conditioning that many of the seniors on the Championship Tour can drive the ball further today than they did in the late 90's when they were under 40?  Are the clubs getting better - yes, are the balls better, yes, and do we need to come to grips that new clubs every year or 2 is necessary?  Most certainly.  New clubs and balls have done nothing to change the average scord of the average golfer over 20 years (sitll 97).

Every sport has the conundrum.  Quality bicycles can easily run over 2500.  It would be nice if the OEM club vendors would market a line of Everyman's Clubs at something south of $500 not used by the PGA but successful at the USGA club events and simply sell it for multiple years without the marketing hype.  It's hard to drag people out to try golf if they a choice of off balanced junk for $199 a set or pop over $1000 for OEM lines just to let a lie adjustment and an option for 3 shafts based on swing speed.  More arguement about course lengths and hole sizes for the part-time amateur duffer to get them motivated.

    when is the release date!!!

    Driver 913 - November 9th

    Fairway 913 - Early Feb

    Hybrid 913 - Early Feb

  12. And now of course it comes out that the hosel fittings for the 910 heads will not fit the new shafts, and why? if you want one you have to pay for the entire new club instead of just being able to put the new shafts in the "older" heads. I don't consider the contents of my bag junk, unless one thinks the 910 driver,  the 909 3 wood, the Vokey 58, the JPX irons are junk. I know very few if any amateurs who have the swing the guys of the Champions tour, it's been proven these expensive clubs do not help their game that much if any. I have laid down 3 different drivers including my 910 (won't mention any company names here) all of them had the same length shaft, flex etc. and the shortest of the 3 when all were hit dead solid in the same conditions? The 910.

The fact is an amateur thinks they can buy a better game, well save your money and take lessons and if you've already got a good quality set of clubs stay with them. Oh and I'd say you take one of the Champion tour guys and put any club in his hands and he could hit it much better and further then any amateurs. If clubs aren't getting out of hand these days then why is so much talk about making the belly putter illegal? I guess guys like Jack, Gary and Arnold are all wrong in what they are saying about equipment.

  13. Got a notice today saying the new 913's are now available. And even though I bought my 910 less than a year ago for $429 including tax it's now worth a whopping $118 and that's the high value. My 910 is like new but makes no difference, something is wrong with this picture.

Curious - do you buy a car new or used?  Depreciation is what it is.  I have a set of 912 AP1s, but I expect to use them into the next decade.  In 3-5 years they will almost be worth nothing.  I've had enough positive experience surefit fairways and hybrids that I'll try to see if an adjustable 913 driver can gain me yards or accuracy over my G15.  I can use my non-conforming wedges into the next decade - if they aren't worn down before then.  Because they do work better than what I had.

At least Titleist is on a 2 year cycle.  keeps them from selling drivers that looks like a bag of Tootsie Roll pops.  I keep looking at a LH R11 driver since it now retails for $139.  That's only one year ouf ot date. Alas, it keeps getting close to my G15, not farther.

IF you know what you are looking for (shaft type and flex) then sometimes buying slightly used saves a lot of money.  Used clubs can be fitted.  I just can't justify spending $2000 on a brand new set of clubs and hit the ball just as well with slightly used clubs.  I played a round of golf in 2010 with a 980F 3 wood, two persimmons from Louisville Golf, home made irons and a couple SM2 Vokeys and shot 42 for 9 holes first time out with the wooden clubs.

Also, when buying clubs (even used) it is good to get them from a place with a "playability guarantee" (Golf Mart has a 90 day and they will take your club back if you don't like it).  I bought a Vokey 48-06 and 58-12 new, didn't like them and got wedges I was happy with. My SM4 60-10 is new but didn't cost anything because of store credit (I returned a hybrid I didn't like and traded my 58-04 and 62-07 SM3 after a year of use).

The trade-in price of Spin Milled c-c wedges is $20 and that club isn't even 2 years old.  The resale value is $40.  Golf Mart sells them for $59.

I paid a whole $69 for my 2007 Burner HT Draw driver almost 2 years ago.  A side by side with an R11 10.5* driver at a demo day reminded me to save my $400 because the so-called "old man" driver just blew it away.  The bright side of the 913D2 is that I can pick up a 910D2 pretty cheap next year (I already know the shaft I want).  I also paid $69 for a 7H putter 2 years ago and am saving 2 strokes per 9 holes on putting.

I got my 910F for $78 at Play It Again Sports and it is the best fairway woods  I've owned.

I paid $29 apiece for my AP1 6,7,9,PW and $80 on eBay for the 8 iron.  They already had the shafts I've been used to (DG R300).  I had them zeroed in by my fitter and iron play has been getting better.

I like the adjustability of the 910 series.

The trade in value of a 910H is $50 nowadays.  I bought a 24 on eBay for $100 and it didn't have any yardage gain vs the 27 that I paid $71 for (same Bassara shaft).   The good news is I got a slightly used SM4 52-12 for a cash outlay of $40. I just got a 21 as a birthday present (price was $90 below retail) and it hits like a charm.

  17. You can't complain about Titleist coming out with a new driver every 2 years when TM releases a new driver every 4-6 months! Just because a company releases a new driver/ club doesn't mean you need to go out and buy it. I just purchased the Titleist 913 D2 driver with the Diamana S+ 62 Blue Shaft (i'm still waiting to receive it via mail). I previously owed the TM Burner '09. I typically use my drivers and irons for roughly 4 years before upgrading. For one it's far to expensive to upgrade on a yearly basis and two it is not even close to being necessary.

I'm not one to complain on the prices very often because 90% of my equipment is purchased via E-Bay. You can always find killer deals on there compared to golf galaxy, etc. As most of you know the 913 D2 is $400 in the stores. I just purchased a brand new 913 D2 on E-Bay for $285!!! That's a 30% Discount! The most you'll pay for the 913 D2 on ebay is $330, but be patient, search around and you'll find even better deals. I also own the miz MP53's (I love em) which were $900 when released in stores. I purchased them on E-Bay for roughly $450! Now that was a much better discount than you'll usually find but still be smart when purchasing new equipment. Don't buy new clubs every year and search the web/E-Bay for the great deals.

Can't wait to hit my new 913 D2 Driver!!!

P.S. I love the newly designed Head Cover!
