Stolen Clubs!

Yep! My clubs were recently stolen! Whole bag full of Titleist equipment. From driver to putter, plus 2 new gloves, fresh box of ProV1x's, new player's towel, Titleist umbrella and a new 14 way Titleist stand bag that I just received as gifts.

A little over a week ago, Nov 8th to be exact, I took a trip to visit family and play in a tournament with my cousin. As soon as we arrived at the course, we went inside to register for the tournament, talked to a few of my cousins friends and got something to drink. It's very busy with people there for the tourney and groups finishing their rounds so there's people everywhere. We go back outside to load up and my bag is gone! Panic sets in. I'm running around asking everyone I see if they saw anyone take my bag. Of course with so many people coming and going nobody saw anything out of the ordinary.

The pro shop was alerted and the police were called. There has been no good news and I doubt that there will be.

I can't even explain how devastated I am. I love golf. Besides family, golf is my life. Its my only hobby. I'm sure everyone reading this is thinking that this is a good reason to get new clubs. Well, barring a miracle, this turn of events will end my golfing career. Some of you may remember me mentioning a while back I was in a pretty bad motorcycle accident and I still have a pile of bills from that. Plus the place where I used to work closed and my current job does not pay as well as my old job. So buying new or used clubs is not an option. I had to pinch penny's just to be able to play occasionally. Heck, my cousin even paid for the trip.

I'm hoping that venting this here will help somehow. I've just been a wreck since this happened. Even my boss has asked more than once if I'm okay. I haven't even been able to read the forums here since or watch any golf on TV. I just feel lost.

I don't know when or if I will be back on TT so I would like to say Thank You to all the members of TT for your insights and help. I have been here for a long time and enjoyed every minute. TT is full of great people!

I would especially like to say Thank You to Mike D, Cathi, Cameron, Bubba and Will. And everyone at Titleist.  You have all been extremely helpful over the years and always there for the members of TT. I'm sure that I speak for everyone when I say that I appreciate everything you do!

    Thanks for letting me vent,

     Chris S

Chris:  We feel you pain.  Think I would be looking for someone to, well, can't put that kind of language on this site.  Hopefully something good will turn up.  Cheers, Chuck

Do you have a homeowner's policy or renter's policy? If the deductible is 500 or less, you might recover some cash. It qualifies for theft from your personal belongings. This really stinks. I've definitely been more careful at any non-private course. A buddy had (just) a 4 yr old CBR driver stolen, same situation. The wholesale value had to be $20. A loaded Titleist bag would be like the lottery at that public course. Hang in there, at least no one physically hurt you in the theft. Life is a long journey, this will be temporary.

Sorry to hear your bad news Chris S. This kind of stuff just makes you sick to your stomach.  I've only had 1 club stolen to date (knock on wood) but I have heard about it many a time and it just makes you sick.  Hopefully you get some great news from your situation.  Keep us posted.

Sorry to hear your story.  I wish you the best.

I had a whole set of Titleist headcovers lifted this summer.  While it no where near matches your pain, it makes me wonder what is wrong with some people.

With the cost of our gear, we need to make sure it is insured.  I've also thought about putting a gps tracker tag.  Gonna stop the thinking and do it now.  It may help with a recovery.

Chris  .Sorry to hear what happen to you that sucks! i know words can only comfort you so much but  looking at the situation no one got hurt physically which is a positive.

Don't give up even on the darkest days there is a rainbow to be found, sometimes it is just harder to find.

Wish you the best of  luck hopefully your clubs make it back to you and they catch the low life that stole your clubs.

Man I know what you are feeling. The same thing happened to me about a year ago. Fortunately I got my back and it didn't feel the same. I traded everything for new. It gave me the feeling of being mine again. Keep your head up and remember why you love the game.

Man that's rough, wish you the best at tracking down your stuff.  Hopefully it was just someone grabbing the wrong bag after a few too many and will take them back to where you were playing.  You might also talk to the local retailers and let them know to watch for your clubs in case someone is going to use them for trade in.  EBay is also a favored dumping spot.

Chris, this too will pass.  Don't give up on golf and by all means stick with TT.

Sorry about your luck Bro. About a month ago, my buddy has his new png setup swiped at a private club. However, he'd left his cell in the bag, and GPS saved the day. They caught the 2 guys within an hour, and found a van full of NEW equipment.

I hope that this does not sour your enjoyment of playing golf. 99% of people involved with golf are good people. Unfortunately you met the one percent. I have a question for the TT Staff. When golf clubs are registered with Titleist and then stolen and then whoever ends up with these clubs try to register them, is there anyway to contact the original owner to see if these clubs were stolen or legitimately traded or sold ?

    Thanks everyone for your support!

Well, things are not looking any better unfortunately. I contacted the police again yesterday and they said not to get my hopes up. If they haven't turned up by now, they probably won't. Their probably tired of me calling.  So now its really setting in that they are gone. I guess that I have been just holding on to strings hoping that they would be found or returned, but that hasn't happened.

Trust me, the last thing I want to do, or would do is give up on golf. Golf changed my life. Before I was introduced to golf I was heading down the wrong path in life. Hanging out with the wrong people, doing things that I shouldn't have been doing. Golf changed all of that. My good friend Mike helped me turn my life around and got me started playing golf and meeting new people. I can't ever thank him enough.

I know that I'll start feeling better someday. Right now its hard to read the forums or even watch golf knowing that there is a possibility that I may not have the chance to play again. There is just no way I can afford to start over again. Unless I win the lottery! But I probably have a better chance of my clubs being returned. And even those odds are slim to none.  Like I said, besides family, all I do is golf. I just feel weird, almost empty, deflated. It's like I have nothing to look forward to anymore.

Thanks again TT! You all are the best and I appreciate the kind words.

I hope that you all have a wonderful holiday season!

So sorry to hear about your loss Chris. I just can't understand how someone could do something like that. You could try hitting the pawn shops, garage sales, moving sales, or estate sales. Sad to say, but used golf clubs aren't worth much after a couple of years, so you could probably pick up a pretty good set for not much money. They may not be Titleist, but at least they could get you back on the course. Good luck, and be thankful for what you do have as we celebrate Thanksgiving on Thursday. You still have your health, and family, which is the most important, and the golf will be back soon.
  15. Chris,

Sorry to hear about your loss. Hopefully things will work out for you in the end. They do make "alarms" that you can put on/in your bag...if something happens, the alarm will sound off and you'd be notified via "fob" or phone.

    Best of luck to you.
