503h Hybrids.

    Hi. I've just started playing the game and I'm in the position of putting together some clubs and got hold of 2 503 h Hybrids (19 & 22). apart from wondering where I can get headcovers for one of these, I wanted to know what peoples opinions are of them. I like them, even if I slice massively to the right with them, (more my fault than the clubs). Are they difficult for a beginner to hit as some players have told me or are they just put of by the fact they look like irons more than a normal wood looking hybrid?

     Ian:  Those clubs came out in November 2004 and the hybrid line has improved tremendously in 11 years.  The newer models look nothing like that club and the performance and accuracy of the new true hybrids is overwhelming.   I would recommend taking a look at the 910h, 913h or 915h.  It all depends on what you want to spend.  The newer models are much easier to hit and you can adjust the settings to meet your particular needs.  Personally, that is the first time I've seen those clubs.   If you are truly interested in learning the game of golf, go see a PGA professional, get some lessons to see if this is what you want to do.  Golf is a commitment.  Then go get fitted for clubs that will be designed for you.  This will make golf more fun for you and you will not be shooting those high numbers forever.  Golf is about having fun and choices.  Cheers, Chuck

    I bought a 22 degree when the 503H first came out.  They were not easy to hit, but when you did hit it solid the ball would jump off the club face.  I kept it in my bag one summer, then got rid of it.  I was playing to a 5 handicap back then and I just could not consistently hit it well.  I think they came with head covers, but finding them now would probably be difficult.  Like Chuck says though, the newer hybrids are a lot more forgiving and much easier to hit.  If you don't want to jump right in to the 915 model hybrids, I would suggest looking for some used 913s, they are very good also.

    Oh, I have those two! I still take it out and hit with them at the range for kicks. The reason I got those were because it didn't have any off set. At the time I was tinkering with my swing- trying to work the ball and they are really fun. But in any case, Chuck is spot on, the new Titleist hybrids are great! Golf is fun and can be a lot more fun when you understand what it does- (right again, Chuck). See a PGA pro and read about golf. Have fun out there and Good luck!

    I'm having lessons at the moment, like I said total beginner, plus I'm trying to devour anything i can on the game and how to improve my flaws.I'll have another look and try to pick up a newer hybrid then. Still determined to learn those 2 clubs though because when I hit them well the ball flys a heck of a distance. well a heck of a distance for a beginner which is about 200 yrds. Also kind of stubborn.
