With the intro of new Hybrids, I'm attempting to sort out the pros and cons of keeping any Fairway woods in the bag.

Where a few years ago, I thought that hybrids were a great substitute for long irons; they now appear to serve as a true multi function club - making he fairway wood less appealing.

As I work through my purchase for the spring, are there any thoughts out there by those who have purchased the new hybrids?

I bought the 915F 15* and 915H 21* and I could have opted out of the fairway wood. The hybrids are the new fairways. Save the $$

I think it really depends upon the course you are playing and the shots you need. Personally I think the 915 and 816 hybrids are both excellent and extremely versatile. I use my Titleist hybrids for most of my shots "off the deck" where I may have used a fairway wood in the past. However, on most courses I will keep a 3-wood in the bag if there are tee shots where a driver would be too much club. In my setup I will use the fairway wood as an alternative to the driver on the tee box. If the setup of the course does not dictate that I tee off with a 3-wood on any of the holes I will replace the 3-wood with a second, lower lofted hybrid.

I have a tough time hitting hybrids from the short grass and have mixed success with fairways in the rough, so I keep one of each in the bag. I play a 913 3 wood which is like a safety blanket for me; it'll be a sad day if I have to retire it. A real "go to" club off the tee when the driver isn't working. The hybrid has saved more than its share of holes for me. Keep em both.

Like Mike said I think it depends on the course you are playing. I use both a 915Hd 17.5 and 816H2 21 and absolutely love them, so easy to hit and so versatile. I'm even considering an 816H 25 or 27 degree to play around with.

However I do always like to keep a 3 wood in the bag for those long par 5s where a low lofted hybrid just isn't long enough for me as I'm not a massive hitter.

Or you can be like me and get the 816H to replace your 3/4 iron, as a 200-220 club. And then find you hit it as far as the 915 5-wood (240+) you just bought last year....The 816's are monsters!!.......LOL

    Huddersfield,

I leave my 3wood at home during the winter, as I tend not to need it when the course is playing shorter, and use a 19deg hybrid. In the summer I use the 3wood on shorter par 4's from the back tees, hopefully for a bit more accuracy
