A strange question to the Team Titleist family. For the last year I have been playing two full sets of Titleist clubs. I was fitted for both at my local PGA Tour Superstore last year. Two separate fitting sessions with different fitters. Here is what I ended up with:

    High launch set:

Titleist 915 D3 9.5 Diamana Blue Board Stiff Titleist 915F 15 Diamana Blue Board Stiff Titleist 915Hd 20.5 Diamana Blue Board Stiff Titleist 716 AP2s 3-GW KBS Tour 120 Stiff Vokey SM6 54 and 58 with KBS High Rev 2.0 Stiff Scotty Cameron GoLo Dual Balance

    Mid launch Set

Titleist 915 D4 10.5 Diamana White Board Stiff Titleist 915F 15 and 18 Diamana White Board Stiff Titleist 915Hd 20.5 Diamana White Board Stiff Titleist 716 MB 3-PW True Temper S300 Titleist SM6 52 and 58 with True Temper Spinner Stiff Scotty Cameron Futura X5R

As you can see both sets are different yet my game is the same playing with either of them. Seems I actually play better using the high launch set on short courses and the mid launch set on longer courses.

Does anyone else do anything like this?

And if you had to keep one set and get rid of the other which one would you keep?

Thanks in advance for the input.

I love it! I've gone back and forth between AP2's and MB's for the past few years, before the snow flew last fall I put in the bag 16.5 and 21 degree 917 woods and the 716 AP2 with 23 and 25 degree 816H2,
Tomorrow I'm going for a fitting and was going to trade in the clubs and be fit for the MB's but now I'm thinking of keeping both.... do you notice a large difference with your iron play between the two... I actually usually score better playing the MB's but then my mind plays tricks on me and thinks I'd play better with the AP2's, then I think I would enjoy the MB"s and back and forth, back and forth....
Love your post and set up...

I actually find that I hit the AP2s a bit longer and higher with the lighter shafts but I have less control that I do with the MBs. I always use the PROV1 ball and I get a lot more spin and stopping power with the MBs over the AP2s. There is about half a club length difference between the two sets.

I have tried to hit the AP2s lower but when I do I tend to hook the ball a lot with them due to them having more offset then the MBs.

I don't think I've heard of anyone doing something like this... especially due to the cost commitment for items in the same product launch periods.

If I were to choose between the two, it would be to keep the high launch set, as you can more easily lower the launch in shot shaping than constantly trying to launch higher.

Never heard of anyone doing this. Expensive and, seemingly, difficult to adjust between sets. Interesting that you say your game is the same with both bags.

This is all very interesting. I would like to do something very similar. Alternate sets each round, alternate sets each week, or some other frequency/practice. Then determine which set produces the best scores and helps to lower my handicap. I would play the same ball, and have the same wedges and putter. Now, how can I make this happen and keep it low key with my golf buddies? I believe I can do it. Will keep you posted.

There seems to be a misconception on offset and what it does.

This from Tom Wishon who has desinged tons of clubs for many major club companies before starting his own company said is this another forum.

"The BIGGEST reason for offset is for higher ball flight. It MAY reduce slice but, but it's MAINLY for higher flight. (that's copied and paste, I didn't emphasize those words).

Now back to your original post. I'd play the AP2's just for the fact of extra forgiveness and still being able to to control traj, and everything but with the extra forgieness on those off days, or stretches where your swing may disapear for bit. As far the rest of the clubs, I'd mix and match whatever performs best day in and day out. If that's either all of one bag, or mix of the 2, I'd play play whatever gets it in the fairway, on the green, and in the hole more consistently. Also I might question the fitting a bit. The AP2's and MB are really kinda at seperate ends of the spectrum. It's just strange that one fitter said go with a true blade, and another said a rather friendly players cavity. We're not really talking apples to apples. I could see maybe a set of AP2's or possibly CB's, but AP2's vs MB's seem like a rather drastic difference.

    Just my $.02

I have the MB's and the AP2's. For me, I just keep leaning towards the MB's. Nothing like them!.....

I like it! I have been playing AP1 & AP2's based upon the weather here in the NE. Frozen ground is the factor for me, hesitant to bring out the forged. Finding the distances fairly comparable, and enjoy the feel and look of the AP2 with a pleasing trajectory.

Thanks guys for all the feedback. I have a very steep swing (I hit down on every club in my bag including the driver). And I do make solid contact most of the time especially since I am on the range at least 3 times a week. Living in Colorado I can get out almost all year long.

I actually find that for my swing hitting the MBs feel more pure with a greater feedback than the AP2s. Do not get me wrong I can crack the AP2s out there but with such a steep swing it feels like the bounce in the does not take the divot I like to see. I do find that switching back and forth regularly gives me that fresh feeling of my swing. Whether it is just mental or if I am making a slight adjustment on the range beforehand. Either way it seems to keep me from getting into any sort of slump through the prime playing months.
