I recently purchased a set of AP2 712 irons and was fitted with + half inch length and +3 degrees upright. I have standard length and lie 54 and 60 Vokey spin milled wedges. Can the wedges be safely bent to +3 degrees upright to come closer to my specs?

This depends on what finish the wedges are.  If they happen to be Oil Can wedges, there is a tolerance of +/-4*.  If they are Tour Chrome (satin) or Black Nickel, then there is a tolerance of +/-2*.  I would recommend having them sent into the Titleist Repairs Department, so you don't void the warranty and avoid any possible stress marks put on the hosel.

  3. Hi,

I am looking at get the SM4 60 degree black nickel and adjust it 4* flatter. I have some questions:

    1. Is there a difference from buying it off the shelf locally and getting it bent by a club fitter VERSUS ordering a customised piece sent from US?

    2. Does it means if I buy the customised piece from US which comes 2* flatter, I can further bent it another 1* or 2 *?

    Thanks

See Cameron's comment.  Most fitters won't bend a club more than 2* in loft or lie since Vokeys are cast clubs (so that should answer #2 - 2* further).

    Hi Lou G,

thanks for reply. My query or 'theory' is this.

If I order a custom made wedge for 2* flat, when I received it, it means it is already 2* flat. So can I send it to a fitter to adjust another degree or so?

Which relates to my first question. Is there a difference between ordering the wedge custom made 2* flat versus buying it off the shelf and getting a fitter to adjust it 2* flat?

Perhaps someone from Titleist can help answer?

If you require a 4* flat wedge and order one custom made 2* flat, the fitter would be willing to bend it an additional 2*; however, if you buy it off the shelf with a standard lie and tell the fitter to bend it to 4* flat, he/she may or may not do it.

Check with Cameron to verify this.

  7. Ah Lou G! Yes, that's what I am getting at.

Will be great if what you say is true. Thanks

    Would greatly appreciate your advice.

Just because u fit in a certain lie for you 6 iron doesn't mean u will fit the same way for your SW. Same on the length. Best to get fitted for your wedge lies. In fact most of the time players will fit flatter, but not always. Wedge fitting is the most complex of the fitting processes. And it most definitely must be done hitting from the turf and sand where you can feel the sole contact... Steve ball, ballgolf.com. OKC
