With the possible change in the use of belly putters would my kombi belly putter still be legal if I cut it down to 35" and replace the grip? I contacted custom fitting and they will not do it because it would change the specifications outside of a normal kombi 35" putter.
I believe the belly putter would still be legal. You just wouldn't be allowed to anchor it to you belly.
Patrick, I just cut mine down to 34". The head is 400-405g so it would be considerably heavier than a regular Kombi. However, it's perfectly legal. I like the heavier feel myself. Take note that the shaft will be a bit larger at that point where you cut it down, so the regular SC grip that comes on the regular length Kombi will feel a bit more mid-sized.
I also called SC's shop to see if I could send mine in and I was told they were unsure if they were going to make those changes for us. I was told they needed to talk to Scotty himself. I guess he decided he wanted us to buy a new putter:)
Hope this helps!

Thanks. I think that I will order a new grip and cut it down myself. I re-grip my clubs every year anyway. Thanks for the information.

Thanks John. I think that I will cut it down and put a new grip on it.

Also, make sure that you have the correct lie angle as well.
Can I use a standard grip? The size of the shaft is large at the 35" location.

I used the standard red SC that comes on the 35" Kombi. The standard grip will feel more like a midsize grip but it fits.
Thanks. Cutdown the shaft to 35" and put on a standard SC red cord grip. I love it.
Thanks for all yourhep
