I bought 712 ap2's last February. I was fit at my local golf galaxy, they fit me in dynamic gold s300's. my distances have not changed, I have had a hard time getting the ball online consistently so I went in and asked to use the shaft optimizer( which they didn't do the first time)  and it recommended KBS tour x stiff shafts, along with two other extra stiff shafts. They told me that it has been to long and they won't do anything for me. Why wouldn't they use the shaft optizer for every fitting. It is rather frustrating because I spent $1200 on irons only to not have been properly fit and now I am looking at $500 to $600 to have it corrected.

Escalate to the GG regional manager.  At this point, if that person agrees to assist you, remind him you will post a positive comment to thousands of Titleist users.  Otherwise, you will simply just be above average by telling more than 17 people your dissatisfaction.  ...The average alienated customer tells 17 - you can do far better.

The good news is their personnel don't work on commission.  The not so good news, they may not be up to their best the day you go there.  I was motivated early enough to fall into a Advanced Regional Fitting center just escaping big boxes not motivated to work outside their mainstream.  A LH senior isn't their profile customer.  ...Someone that took the time to work with me!

Sounds like your issue should be with Golf Galaxy...not Titleist.

I always say, when you need advice, turn to your local PGA Pro!  They will probably beat the box store prices too!

My complaint is with GG not titleist, I am simply venting my frustration. I didn't intend to seem like I am taking jabs at Titleist here and am sorry if it seemed that way. I was fit by GG not a Titleist rep.

Even lie angle machine readings differ not only from store to store but also from operator to operator on the SAME machine.  Went to GM the other day and they read a wedge @ 66* (which is one I had set to 65 at my usual fitter) so I took a brand new Vokey wedge and it read .5* upright; based on that, I had them set it to 65.5*.   The one at GG is 1/2* flatter than that and the one at FWG (my reliable fitter) is 1/2* flatter yet.

With places like GM and GG I tell the repair person/fitter exactly what I need done.   My reliable fitter in San Diego is Jesse at Fairway Golf (it is a small "mom and pop" outfit).   I've been working with this place since 2009 (I constructed an iron set and a lob wedge and they helped me zero in the lie angles, shaft lengths and so on; I've had a set of Black Cat irons, DCI 981 set, a few Vokey wedges and a putter done).  He'll also give you a golf tip or two during the fitting (have to make sure you are swinging properly for a good fit).

    Lou,

I also have been using Jesse since 2010 when I moved to San Diego. The guys at Fairway are great and Jesse is one of only 2 people I would ever let work on my clubs. Its gonna be a sad day when I have to leave San Diego.

It doesn't hurt to post here.  Titleist does want their products fairly and well-promoted.  If a retailer/pro shop is misfitting customers, customers will likely draw a conclusion that the equipment is not worthwhile.  That hurts the brand.

Since you have the smoking gun that they didn't put you on their best equipment and later that proved to be a mistake on their part, someone further up the food chain at GG needs to help you, even if only to discount new shafts and install them for free.  You did give them $1200 in good faith that they did their best to fit you right the first time.

We are working with Golf Galaxy to see if this can be resolved for Gregory.  It has been a year since the fit and many different changes can occur.  We want to make sure he is properly fit into his AP2 irons as does GG.

May I just say that the other day I was in there pleading my case with them I was hitting shaft optimizer on the launch monitor they fit me on and the launch monitor was reading a swing speed of 88 mph while the shaft optimizer was saying 94 mph. I understand their point of view that it has been a year and changes can occur but my distance hasn't changed, my swing speed hasn't changed, my tempo hasn't changed. I feel the fitter was trying to hurry and get the fitting done. I asked about the shaft selection and he said, looking at the launch monitor only, "everything looks fine". I feel like maybe their launch monitor was giving them inaccurate readings especially  after seeing the inaccurate readings the other day.

I just got a phone call from Golf Galaxy and they are waiting for a shaft from Titleist to have me in for a fitting. She said if she finds I have better flight with the other shaft she will talk to her supervisor and see what they can do.

The fact Titleist stepped in on this with it not being their problem speaks volumes for the brand!

Good to hear that Golf Galaxy contacted you and are having you come back for a fitting.  Let us know how it goes!

Part of getting fitted is about the way you swing, your height, your body proportions etc.  BUT the other part is where is the ball going...there are some minor tweaks that can be made to reduce a slice / hook, etc.  Some guy named Ben Hogan did this with the shafts he chose, the grips he used and the lie of his irons...all anti-hook considerations.  Please get fitted by a reputable person...outside would be ideal!!!

Just out of curiosity, isn't the Shaft Optimizer a miz product?  Does Titleist use one of these as well?  I wasn't aware of this.

it is miz but judges shaft recommendation off of swing characteristics, the flex recommendation would be accurate the exact shaft could vary as the system is set up for miz heads. Swing weight I believe would be close though

Golf Galaxy had me in for another fitting and the KBS tour x is a better shaft for me. They told me they needed to talk to a few people and tell me what what they can do.
