  1. So a little while back (less than a year), I went to my fitter and had a 910D2 ordered.  The shaft is Project X 7B3 6.5 76g.  Since having the club ordered I've had the club tipped twice (0.5" at a time)...totaling 1" of tipping.  Here's where the "slight" nightmare is happening.  The first day I got the club it had a 2gr weight in the port.  After having the club tipped the first 0.5"...the 2gr weight stayed in (per my fitter).  After having the second 0.5" tipped my fitter now tells me I need a 7gr weight!!  Obviously this changes sound and feel substantially, so I'm a little confused on exactly what weight I'm supposed to have, and if there was an error on my fitters behalf.

I was told my current set up, with shaft listed above, playing 44.5" needs a 7gr weight to be "D3" swingweight.  Is D3 standard swing weight for a 910D2, with this shaft?  Is the 7gr weight excessive?  Is it worth taking back to my fitter to make it right?

    Thanks,

    Paul

Hi Paul,  If you ordered a PX shaft originally in your driver and the total length was 45", we would have tipped that shaft 1/2" before installation and the swingwieght with a 2 gram weight would be D2.  If you have had it tipped 1/2" again, the total tipping is 1" and the club should be 44.5".  We would normally build a 910 44.5" club with a PX 6.5 with a 7 gram weight  and it wouldbe D2.

  3. Sorry left out a valuable bit of info...Yes the club came direct from Titleist...and was originally ordered at 45.5"...minus the total tipping that makes the current playing length 44.5".

I'm not gonna name names on my fitter, since the guy who actually did the work is my fitters apprentice, and I don't want to bust his_________:-)

It sounds like the total tipping (if you had it done twice) would have been 1.5" and the final length is 44.5".  If you want to maintain the same swingweight, you would use a 7 gram weight for the 910 driver.

Ok...I think what I'm understanding from you is that Titleist tipped the club .5" when the originally made the club....then my fitter tipped it 1" total....so all together since birth my club has been tipped 1.5".  And YES, there is thankfully a 7gr weight in the club head now.  Thank you Cathi...you rock!
