  1. I have been searching for a 913D2 with a 10.5 head with the Bassara Stiff flex shaft . My local pro shop only has the 9.5 head with that shaft. There telling me you can change the loft by messing with the configuration of the sure fit but my question is if that is the case without changing spin why do you offer it in the different lofts? TM's new driver loft isn't even a option but yours is. I have extremly low ball flight and just want to make sure I get right set up before I spend $400.00 on  a new driver.

    Erich,

We offer the club in different lofts to cater to many different players.  Each driver head does four loft options per head, so by offering a 7.5*, 8.5*, 9.5*, 10.5* and 12* we are widening the range that the club can be fit to each player.  Players with high spin and high launch may need a 7.5* set down to 6.75*.  Know that each loft setting will have an effective face angle, which will also play a role in choosing whether you were to go with one initial loft set up or a higher initial loft set down.

My head is spinning reading this answer and Quinton's.  Is there an effective difference between a 10.5 head set up to 11.25 and a 12 head set back to 11.25?  Just changing loft, but keeping the lie settings the same.  Other than 0.25 loft, the actual question is any difference between a 19 F set to 18.25 and a 17 F set to 18.5, assuming choking down on a standard length 17 F.

19F to 18.25 has opened the face from standard position, 17 to 18.5 has closed the face from standard position.

Others don't do this(at least they don't mention doing this)

A 17* adjusted to 18.5* without closing the face would hit the ball much higher than a club, same model, built at 18.5*

A Titleist 17* adjusted to 18.5* closes the face slightly, this means in order to point the face at the target you must move the ball back in your stance slightly, which in turn means you swing slightly more down, thus keeping the trajectory more like a club that was made at 18.5*

You need to get a proper fitting done and have them order the right club for your swing.  It's easy to try and diagnose over the internet what a professional can tell you in person.  Most courses take the fitting price out of the driver purchase as well.

    Good Luck.

LOL.  EvenAtually...I will.  I need distance checking but I had to cancel last week because we got 6 inches of snow that day and got another 8 inches yesterday.  At this rate, I should be able to get onto turf sometime in May.  In the meantime, the more I learn the more I can ask the right questions.

Adjusting the loft to a higher setting from standard closes the clubface and setting to a lower loft opens it.

If you leave your lie angle constant and don't change your swing....

17* fairway adjusted to 18.5* leaves a face angle  1.5* closed.

19* fairway adjusted to 18.25* leaves a face angle 1.5* open.

Open clubface promotes a fade and a higher ball flight.  Closed clubface promotes a draw and lower ball flight.

I found a higher ball flight on my 27H at the A2 setting vs D3; I hit the A2 straight and D3 slightly left..

I hit a penetrating shot with my 19F set at A3.

I hit a high straight shot with my 9 wood (a Callie) which probably has a .5 open clubface.  I use a slightly closed stance.

I hit a more penetrating drive with a 13* draw driver vs a 10.5* neutral driver.

That's me.  But yes, one needs to be fit.

You had better watch out for those clubs that can be adjusted over a wide range.

You aren't just changing the loft, you also change the center of gravity, because the cg is back away from the face.

Titleist adjustable is adjustable over a narrow range, plus, when you add loft it also closes the face which requires you to move the ball back in you stance slightly and this offsets the effects of the lower cg.
