  1. I have shortened my 910 D3 driver to 44".  What weight plug do I need to bring It back to original swing weight.......D-3 I presume.

Changing length by 1" will change swing weight by approximately 6 SW points (1/2"= 3 SW points). Shortening decreases swing weight, so you would need to add approximately 12 grams (2 grams = 1 SW point), to bring it back to the original.

  3. Thanks, just what I was looking for.  Now where do I find a 12 gram weight w/o buying a whole weight kit?

You can also change to a much lighter grip such as Golf Pride 25 or Winn Lite (either Dri Tac or original).   The standard Golf Pride Tour Velvet or Lamkin Crossline is 52g.  The Dri Tac is 23g.   A change in grip weight of 5 grams = 1 swingweight point change.

I have a TM Burner HT Draw Driver at 44.5", 910F 19* at 41" and 910H 27* at 38" (all an inch shorter than stock; the fairway and hybrid are both set at A3 - 1.5* upright lie angle).   My AP1 irons are 1/2" short and 1/2* upright.  This is because I have an upright swing plane.

  5. Thanks but fooling the swing weight balance scale just leaves me with a lighter club.  I've never been successful with a light club which is why I like Titleist.  Their driver heads are about 5 grams heavier than most other brands.

With the lighter grip you feel the weight of the head better.  If you take two clubs of the same length and have different weight  grips, the club with the lighter grip will feel heavier even though it is physically lighter.

Most people that play golf use the standard 52 gram grip.  99 percent of them wouldn't think of changing the grip to bring the swingweight up.  My dad is 6'3" tall and has arms 2" longer than mine (I'm 6'1").  Because he shortens his woods by 1/2", he uses the Excel RF grip (43g).   We both happen to be blessed with large hands so midsize or oversize grips are the order of the day.  The Lamkin midsize grip is 67g or so and that kills the swingweight by 3 points; the club is 15 grams heavier, but feels lighter.

Try it out - the cost of a gripping is $11 with labor.    Winn Lite Dri Tac is a 23 gram grip and that will increase swingweight by 6 points over the Lamkin or Golf Pride standard.

  7. Great tip!

    Will try that.  Thanks.
