Tour Fitting Worth it?

This past weekend on Nov. 5th I went through the Titleist Tour Fitting process at the Oceanside Facility.  Having never been fitted for any of my clubs before I don't have a large frame of reference, but from what I can tell, it was worth every penny.  The facility was amazing to say the least!  Perfect fairways, ranges, greens, and bunkers.  My fitter was Aaron and I really enjoyed working with him.  He was very knowledgeable and extremely easy and fun to work with.  We found an excellent combination of the right shaft and driver head that worked with my swing.  I went through all of the fittings (Driver, Fairway wood, Hybrid, Iron, & Wedge) and was very pleased with the results that we accomplished.  Another bonus of going there was being able to hit ProV 1x after ProV 1x while on the range.  Made you feel like a pro for just a little bit.

Cathi, It was nice to finally meet you and i'm glad you popped in on my fitting.  I did have one question that Aaron was not sure about though.  Since the driver heads can be easily removed and reconfigured, will the public be able to just buy  separate driver heads and/or shafts?  I was fitted for the 910 D3, but would I be able to buy a 910 D2 driver head down the line and not have to pay for another shaft?  and vice versa, could I buy another shaft and not driver head?

Thanks,

Cody

Is Tour Fitting worth it? YES!

Since moving to Mass, Golf has become my #1 sport for the first time in my life.  IMO If you're at all interested in getting a new club, any new club, get fitted.  Since deciding to take Golf more seriously I noticed that there were some sizable distance gaps in my bag.  I've had the same clubs (minus the putter, driver, and hybrid) for the better half of a decade, and decided it's time for an upgrade.  I figured if you're going to do something, do it right.  I live in Mass so I decided to pull the trigger on Tour Fitting.  What an amazing experience.

Manchester Lane is one of the coolest places I've ever been.  It's Mecca for club junkies.  It's a huge outdoor grass facility, with a short game area, fully stocked with every club and shaft under the sun.  I had the whole range pretty much to myself, and it was perfectly manicured and topped off with a full bucket of fresh Pro Vs at my disposal.

I got to try numerous combinations, and having the numbers along with getting to see the actual ball flight, and using the same ball I play was great. It’s nice to go off more than just feel.  My fitter was very patient, knowledgeable, and personable.  I now feel really confident in my club decisions.  I’m amazed at how the smallest differences generate huge results.

If you can, I highly recommend it.

Great to meet you too, Cody...  I'm glad you enjoyed the experience!  It's such an awesome place - we love it when we are able to get the chance to visit.

You will be able to buy separate shafts for your 910 driver, but we won't be selling separate heads.

Just wanted to post an update since I have played a few rounds with my new 710 CB irons and 910 D3 driver that I was fit for at the Oceanside Facility.  Having now gone through a custom fitting, I believe it is the only way to go.

I saw the biggest results from the driver.  Wow!  The club looked amazing right out of the box and it performed even better than I expected.  My carry distance increased by a minimum of 15 yards and drastically improved my roll out after impact.  On solid impact shots, my overall distance has improved by 20-30 yards.  Some of that may be the "winter roll" effect, so will have to see when it warms up a little more.

The irons also looked amazing as soon as I took them out of the box.  The new CB's w/ Dymamic Gold S400 shafts are replacing my 2008 AP2's w/ Project X 5.5 and right away I could feel the difference between the two.  The CB's are much more solid on the sweet spot and definitely provide better feedback.  I don't think there is much of a difference in carry distance or overall distance with any of the irons, but the proper shaft and setting has minimized my misses considerably.

Overall the Tour Fitting was money very well spent and I can't wait to do it again a few years.  Happy Holidays fellow TT members!

Hi Cathi,

I am going to be getting a full bag of Titleist equipment in February and was planning to have the fitting done at one of your advanced fitters - Northview CC in  Surrey, BC Canada -as I live in Vancouver.  Do you think it is worth having the fitting done here or should I look to make a trip down to Oceanside?  Would there be a substantial difference?

I read somewhere that a portion of the full fitting ($450 as listed above) can be used towards new clubs, is that correct and if so how much?  Following the complete fitting do you then order what you want there onsite or are you given the specs/recommended clubs and you order them through local shop?  Thanks much.

If you are already planning a trip stateside, Oceanside would be the best place to be fit.  The fitters that we have, the sheer amount of fitting equipment, monitors and the experience are bar none.    If not, Northview CC would be a great choice, too as they are one of our top fitting accounts.

The $450 fitting fee is strictly a fitting fee for the 3 1/2 hr fit.  You will be fit for Drivers/Fairways, Hybrids, Irons and wedges.

Your fitter will work with you so that you understand the choices in the fitting specs and afterwards, you will receive an email with all your specs listed so that you can order them through your local pro shop.

Hi Cathi:  I spoke to Andy today, the scheduler at Oceanside, and booked a full fitting session on Feb 18.  I'm very excited and looking forward to the fitting.  One question:  what happens if it's raining or the weather is just bad?  I'll be flying in from Texas so I'll be committed.  Thanks

Normally, weather would not be a concern as sunny San Diego is just that..., but, just in case the weather is bad, they have large tent structures that they put up so that you will be dry and have dry turf.  Let us know how it goes!

Thank you for the quick reply, ok understand the $450 only covers fitting and will not be applied to future purchase.  I like the idea of receiving your recommneded specs to buy on your own.

I have a high school golfer... what is the cost to fit him to a new set of irons? Can you fit on a Saturday?

Thanks,

Greg
