I am a 4 handicap in the market for a new driver. I have tried the 913 D3 and the feel and workability are unmatched, in my opinion. My problem is with shaft selection. I went through the fitting process at Golfsmith and have been unsuccessful in finding a shaft that effectively reduces my very high spin. I've tried the Diamana and RIP products, and I still end up with the same stats on various simulators:
Titleist 913 D3, 9.5 loft, RIP stiff
Swing Speed 106
Ball Speed 151
Spin Rate 3800 (I'm guessing this is due to my very steep angle of descent)
Carry Distance 250-252 (the ball flight balloons and lands very softly)
With the speed of my swing I feel like the carry distance should be longer. In fact, when I hit a TM Stage 2 driver my carry distances are 265-268, albeit with a wider range of dispersion. I'd much rather play with a D3 given the feel and ability to shape shots.
Please help! Any suggestions you have would be greatly appreciated. I'm not sure if any of the Graphite Design or other custom shafts would help- I'll leave that to the experts at Titleist to help. I'm certain if I could reduce my spin rates with the D3 my carry distances would increase significantly.
Thanks!
