915 D3 fitting

    I was recently fit for the 915D3 on a launch monitor at a Titleist Advanced Fitter.  The results left me a little confused.  My best numbers for distance, spin and dispersion were with the Rogue Silver 60 in the D3 9.5 head.  Club head speed 105, ball speed 152.6, Smash 1.46, total spin 2658 and total distance 285.76.  But the one category that was concerning was the launch, which averaged 9.0.  My fitter felt it was way too low and we worked with different shafts and lofts to try to get the launch up to 12 or 13.  But when we did, my spin went up to 3000 and my distance down to 275.  Looking for suggestions to bring the launch up without sacrificing too much in spin and distance.  Thank you.

    Thanks for the post. 

    First off, if someone came to me with the launch conditions you had with the Rogue Silver I would tell them they are dialed in and ready to go. With your speed, 9 degrees of launch is very good as long as you have the ideal spin rate, which you did. I am not surprised that your spin went up in relation to your launch when you tried different options. I am also not surprised that you saw a significant loss in distance. 

    High launch is only good IF the golfer/fitter can ensure lower spin. Quite honestly, if you felt comfortable with the Rogue and saw consistent accuracy and distance, I would suggest getting that setup.

    I'm confused about my latest fitting also.  My current 913 d3 10.5 has a ball speed of 150, spin of 2400 and launch of 12. The final fitting for the 915 d3 10.5  reduced spin to 1700 and launch up to 14 but ball speed, carry and total distance remained exactly the same...

    Hi Steve,  If those numbers are accurate (all machines are not created equal), you will see extra roll on the 915 over the 913.

    Cathi you were right.  simulators don't tell the whole story.  I did purchase the 915 D3  and just played my first round .  I averaged 12-15 yard farther than my 913 D3, the best shots were even longer.   I hit  14 fairways and hit shorter irons into every green.  I was honestly so impressed that I purchased a new 3 metal and hybrid.  The 915's are GREAT and so are the new rogue shafts

    I am 65 yrs old and looking for a driver my club head speed is 90-94 mph. I went on the launch monitor and my ball speed is 130-134. I am also a 6 handicap. Which driver to tou recommend and what shaft and loft?

    I'm 65, 85-90 mph, 913 D2 (10.5, set to 11.25) with S+ (blue) R shaft, 45 inch. Without knowing your current driver's characteristics, your current shot characteristics, it's hard to say. That would be a starting point (915 D2 at stock 10.5), but for a $400+ investment, I'd get fit outdoors if all possible with a monitoring device. If you average 220 yards today, and based on your handicap you must hit a lot of fairways, what would your expectation be with the fitter? Nothing worse than losing yardage or accuracy for more money by selecting the "average" off the floor.
