For inquiring minds, The iron fitting was mostly done with 6-7 irons. We tried every Titleist head, all the X shafts (True Temper, KBS, Project X, Aerotech), and a few different grips. It was awesome seeing how the same swing with different heads and shafts made a huge variation in launch angles, spin rates, and carry. Very eye opening. What I found: I'm a very high spin player. He got me into a setup that got me around the numbers we want - AP2/MB head, Project X 6.5 shaft at 1/4" long, and standard grip size. I hit the 712U 4 iron beautifully and we went with same shaft but 1/2" long to squeeze 5-10 more yards out of it. I'm leaning towards AP2 heads as they allowed a little more forgiveness. But my ball flight the AP2 and MB, when both were struck well, was very very similar. I also really liked the KBS tour X shaft but I was very consistent with the project X. So we went with that. Overall, great experience and I think my new setup will make me a more consistent player with more appropriate ball flight and spin rates. Can't wait to try them out.
