  1. Well, the final selections have been made. It looks like Mr. Haas was a Captain's Pick.  I'm sure that he's pretty excited about this and will play very well.

I was doing a little research, and...

I may be wrong on my counts, but: There will be 6 U.S. players using a Titleist ball and 5 International players using a Titleist ball. More than any other golf ball out there. Also, Out of all of the players, there will be 6 Titleist Staff players, 4 U.S. Staff and 2 International Staff.

I can't wait until the President's Cup gets going. It's going to be a very exciting tournament!

    Hi David,

you are not on your own, I can't wait for the Cup to get going too. I have my ticket for the final day locked up - the singles, it should be a great day of golf. I know that you will be cheering for the U.S, but as an Aussie, and a Melbournian, I will be on the International's side.

I was hoping that Ricky Fowler could have played himself into selection, but even so it will be great to see the big names of the PGA Tour up close, instead of on TV. I really envy you all over in the U.S with so much live golf. We really only get a few weeks at the end of the year, our summer, when most top players are having a well earned break.

I'm glad that the Shark selected a few more locals in Badds and Allenby. Those guys know R.M like the back of their hands. I think you'll find that the Internationals will be much more competitive on more familiar surroundings. 'Big Easy' has a course record 62 around R.M and Geoff Ogilvy grew up playing across the road.

    Bring it on.

I'm hoping Stricker will heal up and be able to play.  I know his neck injury seemed pretty bad.  Hopefully the US can put in a good showing down under.  I definitely don't agree with Freddy's pick for T Woo- I think there's a ton of guys that deserve it more.  It's going to be a good time for sure.  Go USA!

Even if Stricker can't play, which i hope he does, I think that Keegan Bradley would be taking his spot.  USA would not lose to much strength if Keegan would take the spot.  Hopes for Stricker!!!!!

Well whoever gets paired with T Woo will have be feeling strong, especially in the back, because they will be carrying him for about 18 holes.

  6. Yeah, I'm not too thrilled with one of the Captain's picks. Mr. Couple's must have A LOT of faith in him, because, in my opinion, there were much better options available. The stats don't lie.

There will be 6 1st timers this year on the U.S. team.

No matter what, I wish both teams the best of luck.

    Josh I agree

I think the captains pick should be about winning, picking someone that will pair well with someone that made the team.

For example, when TW made the team, since no one else that made the team would pair well with him, I would have picked Corey Pavin and Funk to alternate events with him.

But they keep thinking ratings, and think pairing PM and TW is good for ratings.

So now they have a pick that doesn't pair well, hasn't played well, and will be playing all events.

I just spoke to Jay Haas today and he believes there should not be captains picks, and just playing for the spot. Also if Steve Stricker is healthy thats who they will pair Tiger with no doubt.

There's been a lot of talk from the International Team about picking TW for the team.   I don't think his recent play has earned a spot on the team, but I know, he is TW.  I'm not bashing him, but at the moment, it looks like Bradley would have been a better pick.

I'm going to have to agree with you. I love my U.S. team, however, the Euro's just keep getting better and better. Granted, both teams will be strong ones, however, like you said, many of the Euros are going to be playing on very familiar ground.

I believe Tiger will do what he has always did in the past, win.  Even though he hasn't played really well

in so long, he is still Tiger Woods and I think he's due for a big performance.

    U.S. all the way!

If we're following that logic why didn't Freddy pick Jack Nicklaus to the team?  Ridiculous right?  Tiger of 2011 hasn't been anything like the Tiger of old.  No offense but nostalgia isn't a good reason for a captain's pick.

That is hilarious and true.  Why not pick Jack?  He's the greatest of all time.  Sports are about "what have you done for lately?"  I don't think Tiger's play has earned him a spot, especially when you have a player like Keegan Bradley playing well NOW.

Seriously! He's 132 on the FedEx Cup and 128 on the money list. AK would have been a more logical pick, and I doubt anyone would have backed Fred on that. Obviously I don't get it. I'm a big Freddy C fan and a big USA fan so I hope the team wins. I just wouldn't count on T Woo doing much.

Getting close now - this coming week, the Aussie Open in Sydney at the Lakes.

As much as I would like to see Scotty win again, I'm backing Ogilvy to go back to back.

He clearly likes the recent changes to the Lakes whilst Scotty would much rather be defending in Singapore.

Then to the big show at R.M the following week.

I hope some of you guys get the chance to come over here one day and play R.M.

It is an amazing course and if you think Augusta's green are quick, you ain't seen nothing yet!

    C'mon Aussies ( D'oh - Internationals!!!)

Not to be rude, but am I the only person that got a little bit of enjoyment from tw getting destroyed the first session by Adam Scott and KJ Choi????? I was rooting for the US, but it was still pretty crazy.

I'm not a huge Tiger fan, but the guy was really playing pretty well at the President's Cup.  He just happened to run into a buzz saw during that first session.   Once he gets his putting going, he will be really tough to beat.  Maybe he should switch back to his Scotty Cameron instead of that other brand.

Good win for the US.  It was tough to leave Keegan off the team, but a wins a win.
