I have a really good feeling, right now, that he's going to make it!
The 2nd round (of 6!) is just finishing in Florida - Erik carded 2 bogeys and 2 birdies to finish Even for the day and -1 for the event, currently in T39. The current Top 25 are at -3, so absolutely no worries for Erik.
Clayton Rask from MN is at +2 after 2 rounds and needs to have a great round to get back into position.
Chris Baryla, from El Paso, TX (that's all I know about him!) shot a -11 61 today, following up is his +1 around from yesterday to have a one stroke lead over Ben Martin. The guy had 11 birdies and no bogeys...it's a beautiful scorecard!
Lots of interesting names...it's a great time to check it out.
I'm thinking Erik is going to have a really nice 67 tomorrow! :-)
In my opinion...Mr. Compton's previous 2 rounds have started out a little rough, then it seems like he bounces back and starts to play better towards the end of his round(s). Which, at this point, he's still doing pretty good. A 67 would be nice for him. Perhaps he'll suprise us with a 66! He's definitely very capable of doing so.
Oh man...I just checked out the leader board at Q-school...Erik Compton is currently T113 after 4 of the 6 rounds. He is +3 after having an even par round today. I guess nothing is impossible, but he's going to need to play some seriously inspired golf the next 2 days. GO ERIK!
On a happier note - Minnesotan Clayton Rask had a great 66 today to move up 39 spots to T47...he's still got a hill to climb in front of him, but another great round like that and he's got a chance! Rask had 2 eagles, 3 birdies and 1 bogey on the card today. NICE! I know he can do it!
We'll see what Sunday brings!
Sadly, Mr. Compton didn't make it. He never gave up though. He's definitely a "fighter" and I'm sure that he'll get his card soon. The last time I checked, Mr. Rask was T85. After his big round 4, it looked like he was on fire! Wow! I have a feeling that he too will get his card one day.
Hopefully, we'll see Mr. Compton, and Mr. Rask, in a couple of tournaments next year.
The last time that I checked stats for the South Georgia Classic, Mr. Compton's sitting inside the top 10. He seems to be doing good so far. I hope that he has a strong finish!
I'm definitely looking forward to seeing him play more in 2012. I also hope that Mr. Stricker will win a Major this year.
I'd just like to congratulate Mr. Compton on his play so far in 2012. Seems pretty steady, so far.
