I'm looking to add some weight to my Studio Select Fastback 1.5....

Does anybody have experience in swapping out weights in their Scotty Cameron's???

Do you send them back to Carlsbad or Do you buy aftermarket weights and do it yourself???

    Cheers,

    Dr. K

I have sent mine back to the custom shop. I had some other things done and had them change the weights. You can get the tool from Scotty's shop and weights from ebay. The custom shop uses locktite on them so they can be hard to get out. If you call them after you send your putter in, they will use a minimum amount of locktite and make it easier to get the weights out.

I BOUGHT MINE ON EBAY. BE CAREFUL THOUGH THERE ARE KNOCKOFFS OUT THERE.

Most aren't "Knockoffs", they are simply aftermarket not made by Scotty.  They don't claim to be authentic.

As far as changing them out, it's simple.  However you need to buy a tool to get them out.  Some say theirs were glued in (maybe loctite), but mine came out real easy.

  5. I have done this many times and would simply send to custom shop.  Some putters have different styles of weights so be careful.  The tool is available from the custom shop.

I have changed out my weights.  SC offered a small kit a while back and I did it myself.  Not sure if it is still available, but keep your eyes open and check the site.  If they are not on the site, best bet is to use the Custom Shop and add a few stamps to the putter at the same time.  They will send back your original weights too.

I agree with others, typically the ones on E-bay are knock-offs and do not fit well based on what  a few friends have said.

    Good Luck.

I have other genuine weigths, not sure what grams you are looking for, but I would be willing to talk about them with you if you want to DM me.

  7. In my opinion...

I'd play it safe and send the putter into the Custom Shop. Yes, there are SOME AUTHENTIC Scotty weights out there...however...even the aftermarket/fake ones can be bad, not to mention that if installed, it would VOID any kind of warranty. I've had customers bring in their Scotty's with weights they purchased online. It's easy to do, but, I won't do it, BECAUSE...long story short, I always weigh the weights they bring in. This one gentleman brought in a new GoLo with 20G weights he bought online. I weighed them both. One was 13G's, the other 17G's. A far cry from 20G's. Like I said, it's better to play it safe than be sorry. Best wishes.
