Take lessons and most of all, have fun!

Would probably start out with a decent used set of clubs and then toy around to see what set make up works best (that even might be part of the lesson routine - the pro may have you try hybrids vs long irons or fairway woods vs long hybrids).  The standard 1-3-5 wood, 3H, 4-PW, 52-56-60 wedge setup doesn't work for everybody. I've been playing 1-5-9 wood, 5H-6H, 7-PW, 54-60-64 for some time now and play very well (sometimes I'll play a 7 wood instead of 5-9).

Practice and have fun.
