I like wearing sunglasses when I golf just not when I'm hitting or putting, I feel it changes the depth of the ball to me. Do any of you find it annoying to have sunglasses on while hitting/putting? Thanks guys!

Nope.  After tearing my cornea twice, if I'm outdoors no matter if it's sunny, cloudy, or raining I wear sunglasses.  It'd be quite the opposite for me, I'd be more annoyed if I didn't have sunglasses on while playing golf.  I also opt for polarized lenses.

I always wear my Oakleys while playing.  Took a transition period for it to feel right, but now it is just second nature.

I'm like the rest of the Team here....I have to wear the sunglasses period.  If it's totally dusk and I have to switch to my normal glasses, I seem to lose it and it costs me a couple of strokes.  Takes a bit to get use to, but with the new HD lenses you can purchase, the quality of the sunglasses are much like your HD TV at home.  My pair I can see the blades of grass and it actually helps me read the green better.  It's an investment, but your eyesight is pretty important.....

They get in my way, but I still wear mine between shots.

  6. I wear my Oakley flak jackets every round I play. I have the G30 and VR28 lenses. I tried to use polarized lenses but felt it messed with my vision as far as green reading etc so I just use the standard lenses. It may sound weird but I find if I dont wear my sunglasses for a round my eyes and body both feel very tired so by having sunglasses I am able to keep my energy and focus up.

I would definately recomend wearing some sort of eye protection its just a matter of if the polarization bothers you or not. Keep in mind polarization is designed to reduce glare. Not many golf courses have alot of glare unless you are playing a course on a coast or a course with lots of big bodies of  water.

I wear my Oakley Flack Jackets constantly while playing golf. I custom ordered mine with the lens made specifically for golf. Also they are prescription for distance only so why would I not wear them for while hitting the ball ?

I don't mind playing with them but I don't putt very well with them on. The biggest problem with wearing sunglasses for me is when I hit a bad shot or two, sometimes I take it out on the sunglasses.

  9. I did some serious research on this a year ago and decided on the Oakley's G30 lenses for most conditions, however the polarized version I opted against since it did not work as well for my vision.  I also picked up a few other lenses including a pair of transition lenses by Oakley that get darker as it gets sunnier and lighter as clouds appear etc... great alternative option.

Just some random thoughts on my experience!

i used to wear sunglasses constantly on the golf course, but then got away from it and only wear them between shots.  i just can't wear them when i'm hitting the ball.  it probably has to do more with the space between my ears than the sunglasses that are on my face...

If the sun is out or the glare is great, I wear my sunglasses all the time when playing.  Both my regular glasses and my sunglasses are trifocals and I've taught myself to play wearing them.  Have some issues from time to time, but for the most part, I experience no difficulties and think that I read the greens relatively well.

I have never been able to hit with sunglasses on. The same thing happens with me with depth. I have people I play with that can wear them. It maybe a slow transition on the range trying to adjust to them.

I wear Maui Jims when I am playing.

I go back and forth regarding playing in my sunglasses.  I wear Maui Jim's almost always when I am outside.  Sometimes I wear them when hitting but often I prop them on my head while I am actually making my swing.  It's funny, because I always wear them when I am practicing, so I don't know whey it would be any different while I am on the course.  I guess it's probably that space between the ears that gets in the way (as is the issue with most of my golf game).

Every shot other than shots around and on the green. I may go back to wearing them on and around the green again, but not unless my short game needs a shake-up.

I've never been able to play with sunglasses, but I've never really given it much of a chance.  However, some of my friends may argue that I can't play with or without sunglasses.  :)

Wearing sunglasses for me keeps my eyes fresh throughout the round. I wear Oakly Flak Jackets with regular G30 lenses. Originally I wore polarized grey lenses but had trouble finding the ball in flight and even on the fairway at times. G30s is a more natural color. When reading greens I do lift them up.

My pro shop sells Maxx sunglasses. Great looks, fit and lenses. They don't move while swinging and are priced right.

I always keep a pair on my head, but only put them on if playing directly into the sun or if it's windy and my contacts start to get dry. Do not notice a big difference in my game in normal playing conditions.

Same here, wearing sunglasses in the Texas sun keeps my eyes feeling fresh.  I spent a year for Iraq Freedom and the desert without sunglasses caused me to start developing cataracts.  So I use them (Oakleys) as much as possible.  It does not affect my putting.  It did not take long to get used to them, started on the range.  Use high quality sunglasses.

If its bright enough to wear sunglasses I have to take them off when putting, it does affect me reading the greens on some occasions but not while off the tee or when playing approach shots.

If you have a good pair of shades with the appropriate lense like Adam Scott it should fit like a glove.  I have a pair of oakleys that I never take off during a round.  I feel odd not wearing them when I play.  Key is to get a good pair.

Matthew, I have found the same problem. Since I was assessed as being very light-sensitive in adolescence, I have tended to wear sunglasses even under what others consider to be relatively low light conditions. I bought two different pairs of Tag-Heuer sunglasses a few years ago that are specifically engineered for golf so as to filter out (or, at least, diminish) colours that distract from viewing the course and various grasses. Nonetheless, I find that the glasses noticeably alter my perception of depth and thus distance to the ball when standing over it -- with the possible exception of extreme sunlit brightness. As a result, the glasses stay on my hat for most of a round or time on the driving range.
