Last year we had a worse than normal winter in Ohio and I didn't get a early start on the season. and I had my season cut short this year with some surgery so I'm looking forward to getting out sooner rather than later this coming year.

I  bought a practice net for the garage to go along with my Zepp for Golf device to continue refining my stroke over the winter.

I was wondering what other people are doing and what they are using?

I also hit my local ball retriever up for purchase for 75 Grade "A" NXT tour S for practice balls,

Looking forward to giving those models a spin  also this winter.

Living in San Diego there isn't any need for me but I do have a 3x14 dual speed putting green from BirdieBall in my garage all year round so I can keep the stroke sharp

No range in the house or garage for hitting balls, but I have a short weighted (1Lb) club I can take full swings with.  I also have a nice long piece (~20ft) of marine carpet in my basement to practice putting on.  Actually works very well and I can move it round in the unfinished areas to change the breaks of putts.  Most of my off season is spent on conditioning (treadmill, stationary bike, weights, stretching.

I have a net in my backyard which stays up 9 months of the year. I also use an Ernest Sports launch monitor to help learn club distance .  It has been accurate and helpful.  My  local range uses limited flight balls which can be as much as 10% shorter.  My backyard is approx 40 yards across and allow me to pracice my short game.  Sometimes I'll mow the grass to form "greens' to pitch into.  I'm trying to convince my wife to buy me a car port  tent to keep the net in during the winter months.  At work I have a putting green in the basement.

i live on the end of a no exit road.  It is a dirt road and covers over with hard packed snow in the winter.  I practice hitting my irons up the one lane road and try to keep the ball with in the road.  In my back room I have a thin carpet with no lining under it so it is like putting on a fast green so I keep my putting sharp that way.   Still go a few weeks left of golf, so until then!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not really a range, but more than enough to work on small things. It's also easy enough to move when I fill up with divots too. I've hit many a foam ball at this, and believe it or not, has helped me get some of my bad habits fixed.

I forgot to add that I have a 10x20 portable storage I use for my convertible, so I have a little extra room that I use to put this setup under for bad weather. I just close the front door and hit the propane blast heater for a few minutes if need when it's real cold.

I have a net in my house, and built a 4 by 8 green, but just purchased a 27' birdie ball.   After a tournament that I missed too many putts I came directly home and went to birdie ball.  A lot practice this winter with it and a few putting aids for sure.

  9. Yes. Actually, I had to build another double garage for my vehicles, etc., due to the fact that I have my club shop, putting green, sim/hitting area, and so on, in my original garage. I have an area(s) outside as well. Sometimes I'll take an "industrial" kerosene heater out by the lake and hit some balls.

A lot of people don't have access to a practice area during Winter. There are many things that you CAN do to help "practice". If you could putt some balls on your floor. Do some golf related exercises. Things like that will help.

Living in NC just about everyday is playable.  I like a real range to work on.  I do have a putting green in the room over the garage so I can practice at night.

When there is a cold snap I exercise a lot more at the local gym. I use a lot of the TPI stretches and exercises to keep my body and especially my lower back in shape. One exercise I really enjoy is using a weighted ball, 4-6 lbs., and getting in your golf address holding the ball, and then make a back swing and follow through by letting the ball go against a brick wall. Also have a putting rug with an automatic ball return I set up in the living room. Make swings with various irons and drivers with out hitting a ball in the house and watching a lot of videos on game improvement.

I also live in Ohio and like you, are in the process of building a hitting area in the garage. I was going to use foam balls instead of practice Pro V1's to try and cut down on noise. I really should look into getting a small putting green so I can work on that part of my game as well.

Yes, being addicted to the game is costly. Even though I live in CA where we can play year-round, I have a simulator in my basement with simulated range and courses. I have it set up so I can video my swing and figure out what I can improve on.

I have two small kids, and like to go to the gym as well, so the best way to make time for everything is to do it at home. I can hang out with my girls, and the little one (almost 2) loves to just watch me hit balls and likes to set my ball in place before the next hit.

    It's a bit hit!

Being in Upstate NY has its disadvantages in the winter months.  So I hit the gym hard keeping in shape with weight training and cardio.  But for practise, we have a net in the garage that we now use the high density foam practice balls and  a putting mat as well.  At work in my office I have a 9 iron and a Driver to just swing away to keep the juice's flowing.

I work with a golf coach at my local club all winter long.  Living in Indianapolis it's not much of a difference in weather conditions that what you experience in Ohio.  Lucky for me, we have an indoor facility for practice.  Being a member allows me to use it when ever it's vacant.

    Hi Mike,

Here in snowy Massachusetts, we are members of an indoor golf school that has hitting bays, bunkers, putting green and 3 new simulators, so we play year round! I play in an indoor winter league there as well! I am fortunate that my golf pro owns the school and is there for those "what am I doing wrong" moments and there are many of them! LOL!

We also have an electric putting green that I practice on as well as playing on the Wii! Spring and opening day cannot come fast enough here!

Lots of great ideas being shared here!

Here's to a global warming winter!
