So I have only gotten to hit the range 3 times since my new clubs have arrived.  Weather has been awful and working longer hours.  What I have noticed is that there is a "break in" or grooving period... at least for me.  Does anyone else have a similar experience?

I was not expecting everything to be and fly perfectly but it is amazing how different two sets of clubs can be... I am hoping that in a couple of days everything with CLICK.  Is it just me or is this normal?

There's almost always some sort of "adjustment period" when playing new clubs. It's especially true when there's a significant difference between them.

That's why so many pros will have their clubs tuned to certain specs (to try match their previous set) or continue gaming older gear for a long a period of time. Take TW for instance (he's maybe more of an exceptional nut job when it comes to this), he played the same swoosh Sasquatch 5-wood until 2013 (I think). And all of his newer clubs are spec'd in a way that makes them look, feel, and perform similarly to the his older sets - smaller headed driver with a fixed hosel, a putter that was more or less designed to mimic the Scotty he used for years and years, and so forth are all good examples.

  3. Double Bogey, It's not you. When switching you have to "get use them". Some of the clubs my need tweaking. I had my 7 & 8 iron bent 2 degrees stronger and love them now. Hang in there, things will get better!!!! steve b

It might have more to do with your lack of playing time than the new sticks.

New clubs are like a new lover, always excited to get them but sometimes awkward until you learn all their little sweet spots. Hang in there you'll hit your stride.

Dwayne, that one made me laugh.  I played 6 rounds since this post and you all are all correct.  It seems that I have gotten a bit better with them each round.  My misses are still decent shots and I am not thinning them as much.

Thank you all, I just sort of panicked.  All is well.

There will ALWAYS be a groove/break-in period. Unless you are miracle of life, you will need time to adjust. Keep at it, you'll be fine.

Small tidbit, it is now June (for all of us) and I am not even close to playing my handicap :X
