What is your Titleist golf ball fitting story?

We just received some great feedback from a fellow Team Titleist member on his recent experience at a Titleist Performance Golf Ball Fitting event and wanted to share it.  Check out what Kevin G. had to say below and if you have a similar story, we'd love to hear it.

Hi Team Titleist,

Last Saturday I went to the Golfsmith in Pleasanton Ca an got fitted for golf balls. The Titleist Rep Brian Razzri did a great job with me.

He recommended the PRO V1x I was a little wary because my game was not good enough for a premium ball. He told me that pros have the same swing speed as I do on some shots.

He gave me a sleeve of the PRO V1x and NXT's . On Monday I played Monarch Bay in San Leandro and the NXT worked well for me on the front nine but the PROV V1x worked even better on the back nine.

Your rep Brian was not trying to get me in the most expensive ball he was getting me in the ball that was best for my game. On Thursday June 6th I played TCP Stonebrae and had a good round. Thanks Brian Razzari and Team Titleist.

Would love to see a fitting in the upstate NY area.

I had a ball fitting session about a year ago.  Very similar experience to the one described here.  The rep that did the fitting was very nice and informative.  I also had a driver fitting at Edwin Watts this past fall to demo the new 910s.  The rep that did that was great.  I spent about 30 minutes hitting balls and he adjusted the settings on the club head.  I've had a great experience whenever a Titleist rep was involved.

He just gave you the balls for free?
Yes he did,and I used them to select the right ball for me.

Yup,  I went to a ball fitting yesterday in Lynn MA, and there was a little tent set up with a knowledgeable fitter who gave me a 2 ball sleeve of ProV and ProV1x.  We talked about my game, and he suggested I stay with the 1.  He gave me a little ball fitting scorecard to try out too.  I kind of knew that the 1 was the best ball, because I tested them both out with Titieist sent me some, but I'm glad that he seconded my thoughts.  If there's one in your area you should go.  It's always great to connect with Titileist in person.  Their staff is extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful.

I have personally gone through a fitting session, but with my lessons, my coach has recommended the pro v1 for me.

The short story is on August 20th my partner and I won my Member-Guest at Semiahmoo CC in Blaine, WA.  It was my 7th time playing that tourney, and to top it off I won it on my 50th birthday!

I live outside Seattle, and was fitted for ProV1 (with ProV1x as a back up) in late June.  Up until that time I played whatever ball was on sale, including ProV1 when I received them as a gift.  I've aways thought that when I got to the point where I could control the ball better, then I would play ProVs, but I didn't want to use them when I lose 2-3 balls a round.

The Titleist ball fitter (can't recall his name, it was at Redmond Ridge GC) was excellent, and one thing he talked about was giving myself the best opportunity to card the lowest score I could each time I went out to play, and that included playing the ball best suited for me.

I took that advice to heart and stared playing ProV1 exclusively.  Guess what - I started controlling the ball better!  From that point on, I only lost 0-1 balls per round.  Tee to green I was excellent and - no surprise - I started shooting lower scores.  My HDC started coming down and at the Member-Guest tourney I shot 84-82, which was 4 under my HDC.

I am so glad that I took your ball fitter's advice.  Who knows how long I would have struggled playing with balls that didn't match my swing.  Now, I have an entirely new view on how low my golf scores can go.  Thank you!

Brian D.

Mike,

I have only been playing golf for 3 years but am an addict and get to play about twice a week and am a 13 handicap. I am still learning things but hit my pitching 135 and 5 iron 175-185.I use all titleist equipment.I have put the most expensive  1,300 dollar shafts on earth on my driver and woods and am always second guessing that I am not using the right ball since when I hit my driver I only get between 230-250 max.My swing speed is only 102 but I am 6'3 and in good shape. When I just started playing I would hit my driver maybe 280-300 but it was a stock set up.What is your opinion on this.

David

Well, to be honest I have no clue where to get fit. Does Edwin Watts do Titleist ball fitting? Thats where I buy my equipment. Also, is the van coming to Memphis, Tennessee anytime soon? I would love to get fit at my home course.

Thanks.

Is there a location where I can have a Titleist Ball Fitting conducted outside on grass?  Also, evaluate irons and woods...not just the driver?

Just curious...I wonder if ProV1x is the right ball for me within the family of products at Titleist...I suspect it is however in todays world of technology it would be nice to confirm...

Thanks!

I was recently fitted for the V1 and a second option of the V1x by the titleist van . He gave me a free sleeve of each to try the next time i play a round.

I just went through a Titleist ball fitting session on 2/1/12. Best thing I have ever done. I learned that I was playing the correct ball Pro V1X. The Titleist rep was awesome and gave he me a better understanding of what was happening when I hit my Pro V1X.

I even played the new NXT S Optic Yellow ball and liked its visibity on the course. Hopefully my Pro V1X will come in Optic Yellow soon.

Please help me understand how Titleist does a ball fitting.  Last year our local rep gave me a sample sleeve of Pro V1 and Pro V1x and said to go out and hit them on the course.  That was it.  Another ball mfg does it with a monitor.  So what does Titleist do?  Thanks.
