I presently have the standard grip that came with my Futura X5 .  I would like to feel the size of the Large and the OS grip without just picking one or the other and then sending my putter for work just to not be happy with the grip size once it returns .

I  guess my question is .... Where can I go to physically feel the difference in the three sizes of grips ?

I can't think of anyplace outside of the SC Studio in California or the Titleist Tour Van where you could handle all the grips. There are some small golf shops that happen to specialize in Cameron customs and restoration but that would require some research and being in the area. However, each grip has specifications that are the same as some other oversize grips on the market as far as diameter and weight. Write those specs down and feel the closest thing to them at your local retail or pro shop. It will certainly give you a feel for size( 3 inch diameter, 5 inch diameter etc.)

I have a Matador Midsize and love it.  I purchased it at a local shop and he gets two per size in each month and a lot of shops are on the same allotment.  Check around and you might find local golf shops who might have them and you can go in and feel the different sized grips.

  4. I think potentially another way of looking at the three or more grips in the line up for Scotty is that the smaller the diameter the more feel or arc swing one would be comfortable with vs. the larger the diameter the more SBST (Straight Back Straight Through) the swing style.  Thus, on the putters that are more face balanced such as the Futura X a larger grip will feel better most likely vs. a Newport 1.5 or Golo 3 a smaller grip may be a better choice.  Of course these are generalizations and everyone's putter style is different however it seems many gravitate towards these styles in the event you are trying to narrow down the possibilities.

    IMHO, Good Luck!

  5. Hi Chris,

The Matador Midsize grip has a weight of 85 grams.

  6. I agree with Ken, however I have felt and used all three at this point.  If you are familiar with the Super Stroke Grips I can give you some loose comparisons.  The Red Matador Midsize is similar (but tapered) to the SS 2.0, the Red Matador Large 11" is similar to the SS 3.0 and the Red Matador XL/OS is similar to the Fatso 5.0.  You can find the Super Strokes at any Golf Galaxy or PGA Superstore...

I hope this helps, understand the SC grips are all tapered vs. the SS are all parallel.

    Good Luck!

    Thanks chris92009
I did find them at the local pga ss and was able to test them out . I did give some thought to the superstrokes and love the midnight colors they come in now but they were much too light for my liking as I'm used to a heavier grip .   I believe the matador is 77 grams and the superstrokes 3.0 are 60 grams .

Chris I hope you gain as much confidence in yours as I have in mine....had 25 putts yesterday....15 on the front and 10 on the back nine.....of course I chipped in on two holes on the back nine....shot a sweet 73....38+35...had one three putt on the front nine.....again, the Matador is the best grip I have ever put in my hands....I used the Scotty Baby T midsize prior to this, and Winn Midsize prior to that.....so they all have been similar!

Can anyone confirm the weight of the Matador standard midsize? I just ordered a notchback and was thinking of putting the Matador grip on. Don't want to mess up the weight too bad though. Wonder what the pistol grip weighs that comes on the select putters?

Based on my research, that grip is made by Winn for SC.  It is like the Winn AVS model and based on their description, it is 77 gms.  I also checked SC's site and could not find any info.  Bubba, is this close?

  12. the basic question, which i don't believe has been directly answered:
the SC Newport 2 's (33") stock grip is his tapered Matador Mid-grip; on the Cameron & Crown Newport 33", the stock grip is the tapered Matador Small-grip. given that, which is MOST comparable to the non-tapered SuperStroke Flatso 1.0??
