I missed my own hole-in-one...

My ace happened on my least favorite hole out of 27 holes at my club. The tee box and green is separated by a pond and I have already hit a fair share of balls in the water. I took out the ugliest/beat up ball in my bag in anticipation of losing it. My only goal was to clear the water, bonus if I make it to the green. As the ball was flying over, my thought process was "Darn, I hit it too high", "yes, I cleared the water", "wait, I overshot", "wait no might be short", "yes it is on the green!". I saw the ball landed in front of the hole and saw it rolling slowly towards the hole and I thought "ok, it is near the hole I should be able to putt it in for par" and I looked down to pick up my tee. Then I heard my husband yelling "It is still rolling, I think it is rolling to the hole, it went in, it's a hole in one, hole in one!" And by the time I looked up, the ball was gone...I was still skeptical as we drove over to the green because I did not see what happened! The ball wasn't on the green so we ran to the hole and found the ball in there!!!!! What luck! Lessons that I learned: 1. Watch the ball until it stops and 2. ALWAYS use the BEST ball in case something magical happens and you are not stuck with framing an ugly ball! I also always play by myself and my husband decided to join me out of the blues that day and saw the ball dropped into the hole! Thank goodness I have a witness!!! 9/19/17 Tanoan CC, Acoma 5, Par 3, 114yds, 6 hybrid.
