Adam Scott wins the EDS Byron Nelson Championship

Posted: April 28, 2008

Titleist ambassador Adam Scott captured his sixth career PGA Tournament title with a dramatic playoff victory at the EDS Byron Nelson Championship. He converted a 9-foot birdie putt on the final hole of regulation to force a playoff, then drained a 48-foot birdie putt that traveled over two ridges on the third extra hole for the win. Adam finished regulation at 7-under 273, then parred the first two playoff holes before draining the roller coaster putt.

Trusting his Titleist equipment from tee-to-green, Scott finished among the Top 10 in Driving Distance (7th/302.6), Putts Per GIR (9th/1.696) and Greens in Regulation (T9/63.9). Sunday's win marks the 14th of Adam's career as a professional, including his second of the year. He captured the Qatar Masters on the PGA European Tour in January after firing a final round 11-under 61. He has finished among the top 25 in each of the five PGA TOUR events he has completed this season. He was forced to withdraw from the Shell Houston Open after owning the first round lead with a 63.

Titleist was the most played golf ball at the EDS Byron Nelson Championship with 107 players, more than five times the nearest competitor with 21. In fact, 9 of the 12 players who finished among the top 7 and ties trusted Titleist golf balls for their success. The victory was the 11th by a Titleist golf ball player on the 2008 PGA TOUR, more than twice the nearest competitor. In addition, Titleist was field favorite in irons sets (41), wedges (155) and putters (58), and second in drivers (42).

Did Adam change the lofts on his irons when switching to the AP2s?

Evman1023

What kind of 2-iron does Adam Scott have? It couldn't be an AP2 because they are not available in a 2-iron.

Congrats to Adam! Can we get a detailed break down of his equipment like you did when he won the Shell Huston Open last year?  Big win for Titleist and I can't wait for Adam to win his first major.  Great job with the blog!

Congrats to Adam and to Titleist for a great win at the EDS Byron Nelson.  Is there any chance for a release of the 2-iron in the AP2s that Adam is playing?  Also what is the loft of his Fairway metal?  Thanks for the info and the great work.

Nice win for Adam, now he knows he has the confidence and the game for Sunday afternoons. Great win and great work Titleist!

Great job Adam!  What did he use from the bunker on 18 in the playoff?

Will the hat that Adam wears (AF8-13) with the new logo Pro V1 be available to the public? If so, will all the other logos be the same? Thanks.

Never say never, Brian.  Adam is testing a prototype AP2 2-iron. No decision has been made as to whether this will be offered as a custom option for AP2 iron orders.

The lofts on Adam's irons are the same as they were on his previous irons, which are not the stock AP2 specs. More <a href="/2008/01/28/two-weeks-two-wins-for-the-new-titleist-irons/#comment-29030" rel="nofollow">here</a>.

Adam used his Vokey Design SM56.10, which has been bumped to 55°.
