Posted: September 8, 2008
Titleist Pro V1
loyalist Camilo Villegas captured the BMW Championship, the third leg of the four-event FedEx Cup Playoffs, by closing with a 2-under 68 Sunday for a two-shot victory over Titleist brand ambassador Dudley Hart
. Villegas finished at 15-under 265 as both players shot all four rounds in the 60s en route to the Titleist golf ball 1-2 finish. In addition to playing the Pro V1 golf ball, the champion also relied upon Vokey Design
Spin Milled approach (54), sand (58) and lob (60) wedges, and a Scotty Cameron
by Titleist Circa 62 #6 putter.
Titleist was the most played golf ball at the BMW Championship with 48 players (70% of field), compared to nine for the nearest competitor. Villegas' victory was the 23rd for Titleist golf ball players on the 2008 PGA TOUR, more than twice the nearest competitor with 11, and more than all other golf balls combined. Titleist was also the top choice in the wedge (54) and putter (29) categories for the week.
