Posted: November 4, 2008

Titleist Brand Ambassador Adam Scott returns to action this week at the HSBC Champions tournament in Shanghai, China. The event features seven of the top eight players in the Official World Golf Ranking and is co-sanctioned by the European Tour, which is kicking off its 2009 schedule and newly established Race to Dubai season-long competition. This will be Adam's first official tour event since the BMW Championship on the PGA Tour in September. Here's what he'll have in the bag when he tees it up Thursday at Sheshan International Golf Club.

Scotty has an interesting set makeup this week featuring the 13.5° and 21° hybrid.  Is that specific for the course in China?

Jerry

Just a quick question: If I'm not mistaken Adam Scott is a very low spin player making his choice of iron and ball understandable. Are his irons weaker in loft as well? I ask because I am really looking at what wedge lofts are found in guys bags today given the 47° pitching wedge. Thanks, keep up the good work.

Jerry

Yes, Adam's irons are all 1° weaker than standard.  This leaves him with a 44° AP2 9-iron, and he then uses a Vokey Design 250.08 bent to 49° as his pitching wedge.

Jerry

Although we haven't spoken to Adam specifically about this week's event in China, the long game gap clubs are the ones he tinkers with most frequently.  He used a 15.5° 909F2 at the BMW Championship along with the 21° 909H, and in the past he has also gamed both an 18.5° fairway metal and 2-iron.

Jerry

What length and swingweight is Adam's 909D2?

Jerry

44.75", D-3.

Jerry

I was just wondering what are Adam's complete specs for his wedges?

Cheers

Jerry

250.08 (bent to 49°), 35.50", Dynamic Gold X-100, 65° lie angle (1° <del datetime="2008-11-13T16:53:05+00:00">flat</del> upright)<br />

SM56.10 ( bent to 55°), 35.25", Dynamic Gold X-100, 65° lie angle (1° <del datetime="2008-11-13T16:53:05+00:00">flat</del> upright)<br />

SM60-T, 35.00", Dynamic Gold X-100,  65° lie angle (1° <del datetime="2008-11-13T16:53:05+00:00">flat</del> upright)

Jerry

Wouldn't a 65° lie angle be 1° upright from the standard 64° angle on a Vokey wedge?

Jerry

Good catch, Pablo.  My apologies for the mistake.
