13 for 2013: Team Titleist Year in Review #7

Posted: December 27, 2013

We roll on with the Year in Review and showcase another one of our favorite posts featuring a few Team Titleist members in action as they help us test white box prototype golf balls.

Watch the video below for another look back from earlier in the year.

Prototype Testing the #1 Ball in  Golf

Not too long ago, when the new 2013 Pro V1 and Pro V1x golf balls were still in the Research & Development phase, we invited a group of Team Titleist members to test white box prototype golf balls, give feedback, and truly take part in the R&D process for the #1 ball in golf.

As part of the player testing and evaluation process, we hit the road and spent some time with members from across the country to answer questions, gather feedback and witness the testing first-hand.

Each stop along the way we met golfers of all skill levels and swing speeds. So check out the video above to see some of the sights and sounds we captured from your fellow Team Titleist members and remember to keep sharing your feedback!

In the meantime, thank you to all of the Team Titleist members who participated in our white box testing. Whether you were on camera or submitted feedback via e-mail, Twitter or otherwise, we really appreciate all of your help and we hope you enjoyed being a part of the process.

And if you’re wondering how you can take part in a future product test panel like this, remember the more you participate and the more engaged you are with Team Titleist--from posting in the discussions and adding blog comments to completing your profile--the better your chances are at potentially opening the doors to these exclusive Team Titleist opportunities.

The overall testing process is quite the experience.  There is so much work that goes into each and every ball that is put in play across the world.  I have had the pleasure and opportunity to vist Ball Plant III and meet some of the dedicated employees of Achusnet who put their own sweat and tears into each ball.  (You will notice I left out blood, that was intentional, not accidents in the facility.  They are very safety concious).

Each person has a specific job and operates at the highest of standards.  Each ball is checked by both machine and man, or woman, then moved to the boxing area.  The process is almost unexplainable, as you are just in awe of the process.

After production, that is when the fun starts with members ob Team Titleist, and the folks down the road on Manchester Lane.  The balls are tested by a robot that is accurate within a couple feet, maybe closer, just don't remember.  Then balls are sent out in special white boxes for members of TT to try out, proivde feedback and wait until they hit the shelves.

Great job in 2013 with your new luanch, looking forward to be able to participate in 2014.

I am an upper teens handicap, loved the chance to test the white box balls.

I had one of the best rounds of my life. (66 years old, 94 club speed) . Would like to get more opportunities to test products. Have always played titelist tours.

Thanks in advance.

How could I get a sleeve of the new golf  balls to test next time?

Yes the test ball(s) was a surprise in the mail box. Went out on my morning nine holes and they seemed firmer than the PRO-V1.  Could not get the normal drop-stop spin that PRO-V1 are renowned for. Lost two in the barranca and with one left, I shall keep it for a souvenir.

Thank you Titleist for allowing me to test your ball.

I received a sleeve of the Test balls and used them over 4 rounds of golf here in Scottsdale, AZ.  I can report that they flew further than the cally that I used for the prior 3 rounds.  They also felt softer too, sort of squished when I hit them.  They also had a nice sound to them and putted great!

However, I never received an e-mail from Team Titleist to provide any feedback.  The balls had great performance and feel.

 Sincerely, Phil Polomsky

Surprised to find the white box balls in my mail box. Played a few rounds with them and found them to be longer than the solo's I had been playing and don't  play well enough to put much spin on any ball. I didn't pay attention  to the color of the ball but would like to know which ball I had since I lost 1 in a pond and 2 in leaves.       Thanks,  Louie G

I tested the prototype ball a few months ago and did not think it was any better than the tour s, but I recently tried it again and I love it. I would like to know if it will be available or what it might be replacing.

Played 5 rounds with these test balls. I hit some of my best shots of the year with this ball. Feels a little harder than the pro v1x. Did not get as much spin around the greens as I expected, but over all I really believe I found my ball. This ball is a great fit for my game.
