Team Titleist Tests the New 2014 NXT Tour, Tour S, Velocity and DT SoLo Golf Balls

Posted: February 3, 2014

Before any Titleist golf ball is launched into the marketplace it goes through a rigorous research and development process that is focused on our mission to design and produce golf balls of superior performance and superior quality for serious golfers.

There are many steps along this path of bringing a golf ball to market and one of our favorite parts of the journey is when we get to meet with golfers throughout the various player-testing phases.

And when our R&D team started working on the new 2014 NXT Tour, NXT Tour S, Velocity and DT SoLo golf balls, we enlisted members of Team Titleist to help us test some prototypes. For nearly two years leading up to our recent launch, over 40,000 amateur golfers from around the world received prototype golf balls, conducted on-course tests and provided us with their input.

The data and feedback we received from this group of passionate golfers helped guide our design and development process and was invaluable in helping us to introduce meaningful improvements for each model in the new lineup of 2014 Titleist Performance golf balls.

Along the way to launch day we caught up with a few Team Titleist members who put the new products to the test, and then provided us with performance feedback.  Check out the videos above to hear what they had to say about the new golf balls.

We’d also like to thank all of the Team Titleist members who participated in this most recent wave of white box testing. Whether you were on camera or submitted feedback via e-mail, Twitter or otherwise, we really appreciate all of your help and we hope you enjoyed being a part of the process.

And if you’re wondering how you can take part in a future product test panel like this, remember the more you participate and the more engaged you are with Team Titleist--from posting in the discussions and adding blog comments to completing your profile--the better your chances are at potentially opening the doors to these exclusive Team Titleist opportunities.

The new 2014 Titleist Performance models are available in golf shops now.

This was such an awesome experience! The new balls are really good. So glad I can finally buy them to replenish all the test ones I lost. Thanks!

I got my test balls but I thought the message enclosed said I would be a sent a email to respond to about the test balls.  I was waiting on the email.  Sorry I guess i did not understand the message that was enclosed with the test balls.

Wish I knew exactly which one I tested, I want some more.

I loved the test balls and can hardly wait to go get the new NXT Tour S high optic yellow balls.   At least according to some of the posts, this was the ball I tested.   The action off the putter gave the smoothest roll I've ever had.  Of course, the distance and short game experience is great with this ball, too.  I'm ready to give up my TM balls for these new NXT Tour S ones.

In testing the new NXT Tour, I had my longest drive of the year with the new one and it was up to 10 yards longer than the 2012 when I hit them side by side.  I ran out of season to really test it along side the Pro-V1x especially on short shots onto the green.  Subjectively, I preferred the 2014 NXT to the 2012 version around the green. I expect if I don't look at the ball, I won't know if it is NXT Tour or Pro-V1x.  It should take a couple of rounds to decide that - the NXT is that good.

This new DT Solo is HOT!!  I was fortunate to rec'v complimentary TEST DTsolo balls.  And I knocked 'em outta the park!  Great engineering and improvement of an all ready awesome ball.  vmv

I live in NY, I was playing the NXT Tour, if I ever get back on the course, I may try the NXT Tour S, for the softer feel.

I've listened to each of these videos for the new golf balls you introduced and I  have to say that it seems to me that you have said virtually the same thing about each ball (soft feel, longer distance, feel and confidence around the greens, etc.) not how one is distinguished from the other. Choosing the best ball for my game is hard enough. I've used them all and really didn't see much of a distinguishable difference between these balls (in their previous editions) including the ProV1's. Once the mountains of snow leave the Midwest I'll be out there again evaluating.

Just bought the new NXT Tours today, can't wait to get to Florida (I doubt if the snow will melt before I leave) to try them.  I enjoyed being able to participate in the testing process.  I will report back in three weeks.
