Demonstrating unshakable trust in himself and his golf ball, Titleist Pro V1x loyalist Bubba Watson earned a place in golf history this weekend, becoming just the 17th player to win The Masters more than once. Watson validated his 2012 Masters victory with a commanding tee-to-green performance that resulted in a three-shot win and a victory stroll on the 18th at Augusta National that he was able to savor.
Watson’s second green jacket highlighted a three-win week on the worldwide professional golf tours for Titleist golf ball players.
On the Web.com Tour, Pro V1x loyalist Carlos Ortiz achieved his own momentous follow-up, validating his maiden win three weeks ago by capturing the El Bosque Mexico Championship.
And on the South African Tour, Titleist Brand Ambassador Jbe Kruger trusted his Pro V1x golf ball and a full bag of Titleist clubs to enter the winners circle at the Zimbabwe Open.
Titleist Pro V1 and Pro V1x players have now won 41 tournaments on the worldwide professional tours in 2014, more than five times the nearest competitor with 7 and more than all other competitors combined.
To date, 5,587 players have trusted a Titleist golf ball across the worldwide professional tours in 2014, more than six times the nearest competitor with 855 and more than all other competitors combined.
TEAM TITLEIST WEEKEND RECAP...
PGA TOUR: The Masters
Titleist was once again #1 ball at the Masters with more players placing their trust in a Pro V1 or Pro V1x golf ball than all other competitors combined.
Watson, who shared the overnight lead with Titleist Brand Ambassador Jordan Spieth (Pro V1x, 910D2 driver, 913Hd hybrid, AP2 irons (714 series), Vokey Design SM5 pitching, gap, sand and lob wedges, Scotty Cameron 009 putter), shot a final round 3-under 69 for a total of 8-under 280. Watson trailed Spieth by two shots coming to the eighth hole at Augusta National, but he birdied both the eighth and the ninth to take the lead and command of the tournament for good.
“Holes 8 and 9 were the key,” Watson said following the win. “Momentum went my way. There weren’t too many birdies after No. 10.”
Spieth, playing in his first Masters, shot an even-par 72 on Sunday to finish at 5-under 283, sharing runner-up honors with fellow Masters rookie and Pro V1x loyalist Jonas Blixt.
Blixt shot 1-under 71 in the final round, becoming just the second player in history to shoot four consecutive rounds under par (70-71-71-71) in his first Masters Tournament, and the first since 1979.
Blixt and Spieth were just the fifth and sixth first-time participants to shoot under par for their first three rounds.
Pro V1x loyalists Rickie Fowler finished T5 for his best career Masters finish, while Lee Westwood took solo solo 7th. Titleist Brand Ambassador Jimmy Walker (Pro Vx, 913D2 driver, 913Fd fairway metals, MB irons (714 series), Vokey Design pitching, sand and lob wedges, Scotty Cameron Tour Rat putter) also posted a top-10 finish in his Masters debut. Walker shot 2-under 70 in the final round to finish at even-par 288, tied for 8th place with five players including Pro V1 loyalists Bernhard Langer and John Senden.
Bubba Watson ranked first in driving distance at the 2014 Masters, averaging nearly 306 yards off the tee. He found the fairway on 71 percent of his drives. Watson also tied for 5th in GIR, hitting 69 percent of Augusta's greens in regulation. Jordan Spieth led the GIR category, hitting 74 percent for the tournament.
“We always thought I had the talent,” Watson said among his closing remarks on Sunday. “We thought I had the ability to play golf at a high level. But doing it is another thing.”

WEB.COM TOUR: El Bosque Mexico Championship
Titleist was the top golf ball choice at the El Bosque Mexico Championship with 94 players in the field of 144 trusting a Pro V1 or Pro V1x golf ball, over five times the nearest competitor with 18.
Titleist Pro V1x golf ball loyalist Carlos Ortiz won the El Bosque Mexico Championship for his second victory on the young 2014 Web.com Tour season.
The 22-year-old, who captured the Panama Claro Championship last month, closed with a 4-under 68 en route to a two-shot victory over Titleist Brand Ambassador Justin Thomas (Pro V1x, 910D3 driver, 913Fd fairway metal, 913H hybrid, MB 714 irons, Vokey Design SM5 gap, sand and lob wedges, Scotty Cameron Fastback Plus putter).
Ortiz posted a 13-under 275 victory total and advanced from second to the top of the 2014 Web.com money list, already earning well over the amount needed to earn a PGA Tour card next season as a top-25 finisher. The native of Guadalajara, Mexico would earn an immediate PGA Tour promotion with another victory.
"It's an honor to win here in Mexico,” Ortiz said of winning in his home country. “It makes everyone so happy around here. I don't have the words, it just feels great. I just stay patient, trust my game plan, and just let it flow. I'm going to keep doing what I'm doing and see if I can get that third win."
