The Titleist Tour Support Team is in Austria this week, as the European Tour returns to Diamond Country Club for the Lyoness Open. A number of prominent players have made the trip oversees to prepare for next week's U.S. Open Championship, but a talented host has also arrived here in Atzenbrugg. Leading the field is Titleist Brand Ambassador and defending Lyoness champion Bernd Wiesberger, who is hoping for a repeat performance on his native soil.
Diamond CC has been deluged with heavy rains this week, which should make the thick rough here an even greater challenge. Players who can drive it well and hit fairways will enjoy a distinct advantage on the par-72, 7,386-yard layout.
At the time of this writing, Pro V1 loyalist Joost Luiten holds the tournament lead. Joost shot 65-68 in the first two rounds, good for an 11-under-par total and a one shot lead over two players, including Pro V1x loyalist Paul Waring.
At this week's Lyoness Open, 112 players in the field of 151 are relying on a Titleist golf ball, more than 4 times the nearest competitor and more than all other competitors combined.
