Ace on 12th

Ace on 12th

It was Men's night at the Rutland Country Club....that should say it all! Men's night is the most packed afternoon of the week. Our threesome was teeing off the back nine (the hardest nine of the course). I had low expectations that night after starting off with a bogey and then a double. Two more bogeys and I was looking forward to ending the round. Stepping up to the 12th hole (actually my 5th hole of the night because we shotgunned off on 17) I grabbed my 5 iron and looked down at the par 3 193 yards away. Postage stamp of a green with a drop off on the left and a steep hill on the right going up towards the large oak tree. One of the hardest greens to hit on the course. I smoked a 5 iron high with a small draw. Most of the time the ball continues to hook and I end up at the bottom of a drop off about 40 yards below the green on the left hand side (where all golf balls go to die). But that night the ball just hung up in the air and straightened out....beautiful strike. We watched the ball land on the left hand side of the green about 15 feet below the hole and to the left of the pin.....it is hard to see that far once it lands so I expected it to either finish on the fringe or roll down the ravine into the sand trap. As we approached the green I saw that the ball was not on the green....of course....not my night it was in the trap. As I approached the ball mark it almost looked like it dug in and kicked right at the pin.....no way.....I am starting to feel something....I am walking to the pin......it couldn't have kicked that far right.....but the way the green is at the ball mark with that little bump....it is possible....I CAN'T BELIEVE IT....YEAAAAAA!!!! IT IS IN THE HOLE!!!!! And the rest of the night was screaming and shouting!!!!!!!
