On February 20 this year, I was playing with a group of 20 golfers from my club Osage National at Lake Ozark Missouri at the PGA Village in port St Lucie, Florida. On the first round of a 4 round program, I managed to sink a hole in one on hole number 7 of the Ryder course. In attendance was my club pro as well as several good friends from the club. The actual event went like this. My partner and I pulled up to the front tees (I,m over 75 and get to do this with our group) and I made the announcement that I was going to hit an eight iron with a draw over the sand trap, land on the green, and run into the hole. Since I am prone to make announcements of this sort quite often, no one paid any attention to me. I got up and hit the ball exactly the way I wanted and it went toward the sand trap. Since I am older and cannot see well I did not see the ball hit or run into the hole. The others were not watching closely and did not see it either. So the others hit and only one ball made the green. Since I knew where his ball was headed, I could see it as we approached the green. BUT I DID NOT SEE MINE. I thought, "oh hell, I hit it over" and went to look for it. Couldn't find it. Gary, one of my partners says "Oh hell, it went in the hole." There was a small crowd of 2 at a nearby house who clapped but I missed the applause from the crowd that I expected. This was my first hole in one and I have been playing golf for over 45 years. I have played more than 530 different courses around the world and thousands of rounds of golf. My statistic is more than 12,000 to one like many say it is. I was using a ProV1x with a four seasons logo on it that I bought there. I will say that I use them a lot and am very happy with their performance. I started using your predecessor ball the acushnet club special and then the red and black 90 and 100 compression balls when I could afford them. Ballatta covers were quite expensive back then. I do have a small complaint. I cannot hit your ball over 250 yards. ( nor can I any ball ). My age. attached is a picture showing my plaque, score card, golf ball, and a letter from the PGA Village head pro. I did not get a picture from the golf course but I may be able to do that next year.
