Norwood Hills #4 West

This was my first (and currently only) ace and it was on my favorite Par 3 hole at my country club. No. 4 on West course at Norwood Hills. Playing the blue tees that day, it was 177yds over water from a slightly elevated tee box. I was playing with my aunt and Uncle. After my uncle put one to about 6’ he quite confidently said “that’s a greenie”. - Well, ever since I saw Tin Cup as a kid my favorite club has been my 7 iron and the yardage on this par 3 was perfect for a solid 7iron swing. I hit it super pure and the ball (a Titleist ProV1, No.3) had perfect flight with a small baby draw to it. It landed about 8’ to the right and the spin on the ball and slope of the green brought it right on down to the cup and it dropped. Absolutely stunned, I just froze and I believe I dropped my 7iron. My aunt and Uncle went bananas and that’s when it hit me, I just crossed off a hole in one from my golf bucket list. After the round we headed in to the bar and luckily there were only two other guys so my tab for buying drinks was pretty low! I keep the ball in a bag (that has other memorable golf balls) in my home office desk and I always wonder when it will get a “hole in one twin”! My uncle still has the empty beer bottle from the beer I bought him after and the newspaper insert about my ace.
