1st hole in one
By Alan C On May 28, 2014
My name is Alan Cantrell, I am 51 and have been playing golf since I was 8 years old. I am currently a 2 handicap
and on May 23, 2014 I hit my very first hole in one. I have literally been within an inch of one over a 100 times before last Friday. I had even caved in a hole before, but it even managed to not go in. I had just recently received my buy 3 dozen get 1 dozen free ProVI X
golf balls with my last name on them. This time I also had them put my old high school number on them "22". I broke out the first sleeve last Friday on the first hole and I was even par going into #7. There was a little wind in my face and I shot the laser at 151 yards. Decided to hit the 7 iron with the wind in my face, I hit a soft fade right at the spot I wanted to and the ball bounced once and rolled about 5 yards right into the hole. After all the excitement and celebration, one of my buddies made the statement that I wouldn't be able to play worth a "sh*t" the rest of the day. And I am glad he made that statement because I think that brought me back down to earth and made me settle in. I decided that there was no way that I was going to have my first hole in one on a scorecard with a bad score. I grinded the rest of the day and wound up shooting 70 which is one under par at Paradise Valley. I will say this, I told one of my buddies in the foursome that hitting the hole in one felt like I always imagined it would. I had almost come to the conclusion with all the near misses that I was jinxed and would never have one, but fortunately I was wrong! So for all you guys and gals out there that have been playing for a long time and still don't have one, don't give up keep on grinding and have Titleist put your old high school number on your next order of golf balls. If I would have known that's all it took I would have ordered those over 20 years ago!!! lol
Thanks,
-Alan Cantrell
