1st Hole in One How Sweet It Is
By Wade H On July 25, 2012
July 11, 2012. Midweek, on a nice clear day, I was playing with my boss and a new member (joined in April) at Wethersfield CC. The shot that I came to hit on the 13th Tee was a pure shot. Straight on a line with no real movement other than at the stick. 6 Iron (AP2's) into a fairly stiff breeze from 165 yards. It landed on the green about 15' from the hole took 2 bounces and disappeared into the cup. Magical!! Ironically, earlier in the round, I was walking down the 4th fairway when the new member relayed his recent story (approx 2 weeks before) of joining up with some other WCC members and after the introductions, one of the WCC members turned to him and made the statement that if anyone of his group makes a hole in one it was a long standing agreement that each of the other playing partners would pay the person that just scored the Hole in One, $100. Well, the new member agreed (figuring no way anyone will get a Hole in One). As luck would have it, one of the members Aced the 13th Hole. Of course, he had to pay $100 and on top of that he lost the match along with the partner that had the Ace. Little did the new member know (nor did I at the time) I would Ace the same hole. Apparently, our new member has witnessed a few other Aces in his time although he himself does not have one. So, if anyone wants to play with WCC's new Good luck charm, stop on over. Our Pro will direct you to him.
