2 Claps and a Ric Flair

I had finished a round on Friday June 3 and sitting around the Men's locker room settling bets. I had played ok but there were some things that I wanted to sort out on the range after lunch. Some of the guys started talking about playing and emergency 9 to try to win a little money back and I agreed to join. Now the guys that I was playing with had a pretty hefty bet going and being a 12 handicap I stayed out of the big bet but got in a little one (I was up for the day I figured no need to give it back). Let me set my group up a little for you. One was a former Alabama state am runner up and the other 2 were fresh off of their college golfing careers, and the fourth was just your average scratch golfer so needless to say I was a little outgunned but i was looking forward to hitting it a around with them. I was 2 over going to the Par 3 8th hole. The yardage was 187 and I sheepishly pulled out 5 iron which I think is an average yardage but all of these guys are hitting 8. They all hit, 3 on the green one off the right side. I step up and hit a dart at the flag, and it was a good shot but the green is a little elevated so you could only see about half of the flag, but I knew I had hit a good shot. Now let me digress a little, remember as I said before i am a 12 handicap with a bunch of sticks and I'm 2 over, so I'm thinking birdie here, birdie the par 5 9th and I'm in at even par and more than pleased with that 9 holes. So we take our carts up to the green and circle around on the path. From the cart path you can see that there are 3 balls up and one off of the green but a ball is missing. Now I knew that I had hit a good one in there and there was a ball about 6 feet away, so mentally I'm grinding to make a birdie. One of my playing partners walks up to the cup and says, "dude your ball is in the hole". I had no idea how to act, I have always seen the guys on tour that see them go in from the tee box or the crowd erupts so they know immediately, but not me, we were the last 5 on the golf course. So what do I do, what any kid that grew up in the 80's and 90's would do when they find out they make a hole in one, give it 2 claps and a Ric Flair WOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! (no one got a chest slap) Needless to say, it was my greatest golfing accomplishment of my life and now the guys that were in my group call me "Ace"........not to leave you hanging on how I finished I tripled the 9th to shoot 39, but at that point I was lucky to be able to hit the tee shot.
